Ok, I have another problem: the game freezes after loading a save. I have 2 save files which have this problem and another save file which works but it's quite old and I don't wanna replay from it. It's not really a freeze but a very low FPS (like 0,01 frame per second).
I tried to slowly leave the area but the FPS doesn't improve.

Edit: "Gothic 1 doesn't start" problem was solved, I have a new one, read above!

I get an "Application Error - Acces Violation" when I try to play Gothic 1. There is a small window with Gothic logo and "loading ..." but I got the error window in front of it. It says something about "Gothic 1.08k has caused an acces violation at address 771A2322h by attempting to "write" to address 00000024h" and a lot of text, I can post if if it helps.

My OS: WIndows 7 64 bits (I know it's not officialy supported)

I have a powerfull enough PC to play this old game (I5, Radeon 6950, 8GB RAM).
The game is installed on J: partition (NOT on Program Files folder).
I reinstalled it and I get the same errror.

Any advice?

EDIT: I have instaled the german version and it crashes the same as the english version.

EDIT 2: I solved it, there seem to be a problem on partition J. I installed the game on other partition and ..IT WORKS. Hurray!

I'm useless for any technical problems but this sounds very familiar. Have you searched the old posts?

Yes, I have searched the old posts, but I haven't found a solution.

My problem (freeze after loading a save) seem to be related to the patches I applied (1.08 k, Player kit, System Kit, or DX11 mod). I reinstalled Gothic 1 (so now I have 2 versions of Gothic 1: with patches and non-patched).

I copied the save file from the patched version of Gothic 1 into the non-patched one and it works. No freezes. i moved the character into a new zone, I saved and I moved this save file back into Gothic 1 patched version. It works, but when I move near a specific zone (about 100 meters away from the 4 orc dogs) the FPS drops to 0.

So, this freeze seem to happens near the 4 Orc dogs, which are close to a path down to the sea, where the shipwreck is.

I can continue playing in the non-patched Gothic 1, but ...... Gothic 1 non-patched looks very bad.

It sucks because I really like the game (patched).

I probably read it on the World of Gothic site when they still supported English. All the old English language posts are gone likely. They claim they will answer in English if a question is asked in English; maybe ou could get an answer there (it's always been a better site for answers)?

Thank you, I solved it, after following your advice and asking on World of Gothic forum.

I pressed F11 and lowered VisualFX Draw Distance from 8 (max) to 3. No freeze now.

Thank you too, fragonard.
