Hi all,
Have both in my library and yet to play either. Do both have a story that connects one to another ?. I realise sans mods first time is best but im wondering which mods for Gothic 1 would make it a better experience overall?. if the two arent connected which one should i play considering i have a lot less time to devote to games (and anything in general!!).
cheers
Stories of both games are loosely connected and plenty of characters of 1 reappear in 2. However it's not required to play them in order, characters do a good job to reintroduce themselves on request in 2.

Gothic 2 is overall the better and more polished game in almost every aspect (though 1 has a better story and setting) but it also is much longer (roughly twice as long) as Gothic 1, which is fairly short (by rpg standards, maybe 30h or so). Gothic 2 (in the "Gold" version including the Add On) is also a much more difficult game, while 1 (and 2 without Add On) are a more "casual" experience.

I wouldn't play either game with mods aside from technical fixes for a first playthrough.
