I want to install the system pack for Gothic 1. Apparently Playerkit 2.8 is needed, but when I try to install Playerkit 2.8 it won't let me do the install.

How the heck do I use system pack to get this game working better on a modern computer?

The old method of PlayerKit and specifically, the SystemPack is outdated and no longer really works.

The solution now is to use the Union patch, which is a continuation of the original solution.
