When I try to launch Gothic 2 I get the JoWood intro, and then I get a blackscreen, I hear the music and what seems to be menu sounds (like when you mouse over an option) And if I try to make the game windowed in the .ini file the game just stops responding.

Hey,

Try the following:

1. Disable video scaling:
Open Gothic.ini (from your game install folder) - you can usually do it with Notepad - and change scaleVideo=1 to scaleVideo=0

2, If 1. does not work, try disabling antialiasing of your video card, it fixes the problem occasionally.

Cheers

I had similar things happen with other games and was able to fix it with something so simple, it is often overlooked - the "escape" key. Even if it doesn't work, nothing lost trying.

The problem is that there are a few FMV cutscenes used during gameplay and they will also be black unless the problem is rectified.

I see now.
