I just purchased Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition today and played it for a few minutes and I noticed a few differences between it and Gothic 3 right away.

One difference is that it actually runs without stuttering so heavily, or at least that's what I've noticed in the city of Silden. Another thing I immediately noticed is that Nameless Hero has a new voice actor for the new dialogue, but they reused lines featuring the old Nameless Hero for generic dialogue...yeah. I didn't think the original voice actor of Nameless Hero in Gothic 3 was great or anything, but I miss him already.

Well the most annoying difference I've noticed so far is that if you have to reload your game during an encounter your enemies regain all of their health. That is...annoying, especially since I have a habit of quicksaving during tough encounters. As it stands, I've pretty much put myself in an unwinnable situation due to this change.

So...what other changes do I have to look forward to?
Jowood went cheap and went with some indian company Trine Games from Mumbai, India,
This indian company got cheap labor, Trine Games didn't pay 20 of his employees (2012-2013) because of "air conditioning problem", - no wages

the patching was done by another company from 2010-2011

crappy game, best weapon was the stick

Is the game noticeably better with the patches that were added later? The original Gothic 3 was much improved with the community patch.
I suppose this is an update, I gave up on Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition not long after creating this thread.

In my original post I noted that it seemed to run far smoother than Gothic 3, unfortunately that quickly turned out to be false. When the game starts to lag (IE: any time you aren't inside a city while looking at the ground) it doesn't matter what your graphics settings are, the game is just gonna lag.

Along with certain changes I already mentioned (such as having a different voice actor for the main character, while still using some audio from the original voice actor) there were further changes introduced that went completely against the feel of Gothic 3, such as the fact that some NPCs are immortal.

I played it with the Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition community patch though I couldn't tell you if it was any better or worse without the community patch.
