I played and finished this game many years ago, and remember being disappointed by the ending, which really felt like they ran out of budget just before the final cutscene.

If I recall, you kill the general who says "we've been doing all this research into mutant monstrosities because mankind carries this gene, which will kill all of humanity soon. So please go get this folder which contains all of our research and carry it...somewhere".

So you go and get the folder and leave by helicopter. The end. Woo.

So my question - does this get resolved in any of the sequels? There's about two sequels to Gorky 17, do they even mention this stupid gene again?
Totally agree with you, that's a truly disappointing end for one of my favourite game of all times. I really really enjoyed all the game (struggling in some places in my first run) and had the same feeling as you.

Actually is really strange how all the cutscenes, opening and the bosses are so good and the final one is so poor. And how the awesome storyline could end like that. What happend with the teletransportation experiments? Our team also is affected by that. The Dovjroski's role is not clear in the end. And there is no clue what happened after all.

I've played Gorky Zero once but was a prequel (think is the same for other Gorky game). And with very poor quality gameplay compared to Gorky17.
