Does getting this MOD for the game change the base game permently? Can i get the old game back if I want to?

The download from GOG is a preinstalled copy of the modded game with GMDX already present. If you want to play the vanilla game, you have to download and install the vanilla game from either GOG Galaxy or from your games menu using the offline downloads.
