I just got to play this awesome game but I'm having some issues with the performance. First, I run that 1.5 patch (1.497 or something I think) and with the added GRM and some GeForce 3 Converter with added graphics. I run everything at highest with 1080p but it seems my computer not good enough or perhaps the game can't utilize my hardware fully.

My computer:
Q9550 2.83GHz
GTX470 700/1400
4GB DDR2 800MHz
Gigabyte P35 mobo
Win7 64-bit

Now I wonder even with the added graphics and 1080p the 10 year old engine shouldn't be that taxing on my GPU so I thought the issue lies with the CPU limitation and I can easily overclock it to 3.4GHz but would that help anything?

Thanks in advance. :)

EDIT: Update

I did some more testing as I find this annoying. I did my small overclock and quit vsync and used FRAPS to monitor FPS and did two benchmarks. I had about 70min, 107 avg and 170 max so I don't understand why it won't stay 60 with vsync+triple buffering. :(

The GRM specifically states it is not compatible with 1.5. I wonder if that has something to do with it? You might want to try the base game, and then only 1.497 for a patch.

I have a GTX 460@710MHz and 3.36GHz C2D on GA-P35-DS3R, 8GB DDR2 800, and WIn7 64-bit. The 1.5 patched game barely uses any resources at 1680x1050, triple buffering and vsync forced on, all settings maxed, as expected for such an old game.

Yes, I have noticed this is continuing issue for me when I play older games that, more or less, are optimized for newer, modern systems. The GPU is utilized between 1 to 20% so the CPU has to do all the work and I end up with, in some occassions, decent but not optimal performance or stability. Anyway, I have done some more testing and continued to game and it's not too often the game falls under 60FPS when I've VSync enabled.
