Okay, the trailer looked pretty good, but one thing that really 'got' me was the Machinae Supremacy soundtrack.

Is it known whether we'll get the full thing on/after release, or will it have to be a separate purchase?

It's a normal practice these days to sell soundtracks for new games separately. Including a couple of tracks like Gog usually is able to do is actually more than you'd get from most places.

hm. I doupt there will be a full OST.

Reason: The OST was one of the give aways during the crowd funding @kickstarter... they will piss off their 25$ supporters if the game and the soundtrack would be avaible for 15$ (12$) even befor release.

For that price, very unlikely. That's why there's a demo w/ 2 tracks. You can probably purchase the soundtrack seperately, though. (Take into consideration what catwhowalks and xenon said.)

Yes, some games have soundtracks that are paid-for separately. Some bundle them with the game. Some don't release them at all. Some give them away free.

And as for the Kickstarter thing? Well, it's possible but the whole point of Kickstarting is to support a product's development. If those who paid $25+ get pissed off that someone who bought the game for $12 is getting the soundtrack as well, then... well, isn't that a bit, y'know, selfish? Entitled?

But hey, it released last night. It might come up later. Might not, too. Might be able to find it in the files.

You don't really "own" the game and everything that comes with it. Buying it does not entitle you to get a pretty packaged soundtrack. Think about movie soundtracks - they're sold separately too, aren't they ?
With games the difference is that as long as you can extract the relevant file... few people would object to you using it for personal enjoyment. Sometimes, though, the music is generated on the fly to transition more smoothly depending on the situation and in such cases you'd, at best, get tiny blocks of sound that serve this purpose. In such cases - a soundtrack would be created separately by the developers, crafted from these pieces to resemble something you might hear while playing...
Aside from all of that, one might still argue that it's a nice and noble gesture to support developers by buying the music you wish to listen to since, let's be honest, we can't listen to EVERYTHING and if you value some tracks from a game so much that you'd want to enjoy it outside of the game, you might as well give some money to ones who've created it...

It's a complex issue, basically. It cannot be easily dismissed either way.

I thought of writing a similar reply to yours, Vestin, then I realised that the person who believes that purchase of the game equals purchase of the soundtrack most likely would also follow the same logic with movies and movie soundtracks.
