So I just launched the game after quitting and discovered a serious amount of progress was lost. Clicking 'continue' brought me to the point just after the second encounter with the Datavoid - but I'd already got quite far past that point. In that I'd got through the industrial zone, picked up two swords, and got some way into talking to the last Climber.

Thing is, I'd had this before - I got some way into the game when it froze and I had to restart. It started me from the beginning again and I had to repeat the first 45-60 minutes. I figured maybe it was related to the freeze and maybe something to do with cloud saves. So I disabled cloud sync.

So the lost progress this time isn't a problem with local progress being overwritten by an out-of-date cloud sync.

Anyone else had this problem? Any ideas for how to stop it happening again?

GOG Galaxy's Savegame sync function doesn't work very well with Ghostrunner.
It might be that Ghostrunner has created a new savegame file. Try backing up all of the savegame subfolders and deleting them one at a time.
Check out https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003905358-How-can-I-remove-saves-from-the-cloud-?product=gog
Your Savegame folder (win10) is in C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\Ghostrunner\Saved\SaveGames

In my case, the "good" savegame was in a folder called "0" and Ghostrunner always created new subfolders with long numbers in parallel.
It might be because I had previously played the GR demo on Steam.
I had to repeat the deletion procedure above many times until it worked. Still, GR/GOG would sometimes create new or re-sync old "bad" savegames.

You should run Ghostrunner always with or always without GOG galaxy. In the latter case, be sure to deactivate the syncing of savegames.

Another workaround solution if you're stuck in "savegame sync hell" is to find out the "good" savegame folder and copy its contents into the "bad" ones. Make backups before you do this.

Sorry, haven't checked this forum in while. I discovered this solution independently, and you're 100% correct - there was another save folder and the game couldn't seem to make up it's mind which to use.

I too played the demo, so I think you're right, and there is some connection there.

For anyone experiencing a similar problem: I can confirm that removing the extra folder will solve the problem. Once you're down to a single save game it will behave itself.
