The patch order required to properly install the expansions REQUIRES that DS and IT be installed prior to the 1.4 patch. As the game has been patched to 1.4 already, it's impossible to install either expansion.
If you live in the US and want to install the expansions(which are required for online play, btw) I'd suggest downloading the game from the Ubi Store rather than here to avoid this problem. GG on the lack of foresight, GOG.

I was afraid that would make it very difficult and unlikely for GOG to sell the expansions at a later date. Tthe only way for them to ever come from here is for GOG to reissue the whole game. I doubt that would happen.
Also, it's not GOG's fault. Ubisoft would only allow GOG to sell a select few of their games as a trial situation, as stated in another thread. It's extremely stupid of Ubi to not include the expansions of this old game.

Yes, it's Ubi's fault for not including expansions(they seem to make a lot of terrible decisions, too). But I doubt Ubi forced GoG to pre-patch Ghost Recon as a condition of inclusion on their site.
Had GoG included the 1.3 and 1.4 patches as extras, or as separate .EXEs(with a note in the readme, of course), or not at all(they're still easily available on many sites), this would not be a problem.

Totally agree with you here.
This is the problem I have with Steam & GOG. They always provide the latest patched version and that is not always the best thing to do. I was dissapointed in GOG for only offering v1.4 of Far Cry. I still have my disks and I know from experience that v1.33 offers better performance with fewer bugs.
Damn it, I got both Tom Clancy games available here during the sale, and I'm absolutely loving Ghost Recon. So much so, in fact I planned on buying the expansions, but to learn that not only does GOG not offer them, but that If I were to buy them even from another store would not work is a HUGE disappointment. I definitely would not want to buy the entire package from some other place just for the expansion. I would appreciate it, GOG if you guys could put up a pre-patched version up as well, as that's my only complaint so far and I'd love to continue using your service. Thanks.
What an oversight. I still have my old GR on disk but just bought this one for the convenience of always having it and thought maybe GOG would release the expansions....
All in all, i feel like i wasted a bit of money on this download, but it wasn't really that expensive, just wish i had come to this forum first.
Not mad at GOG really, wish they would have had a warning about the patch though, and yes this game feels incomplete without the expansions.
This is a lie! I didn't see this thread but I bought GR and the expansions on steam during a sale them copy pasted the expansion folders from the GR directory /mods and it works totally fine with the GOG.com version I have installed.

Really wish GOG released the Gold Edition of this... Ghost Recon isn't the same without the expansions, absolutely required for mods on GR.net.
Incase it helps some, if you have the original Ghost Recon with Desert Siege and Island Thunder installed you can copy the contents of the Data and Mod folder to the GOG version, seems to work.

Unfortunately I think it may be to much trouble to get the expansions to actually install with the GOG version because they use Install Shield which is horrible and I think they're getting the install location from a file called setup.ilg (which they find via the registry), unless the setup.ilg file is edited for the correct path of the GOG install folder it's not going to work.

One could still use the registry key and those files to install the expansions with a GOG version but the GOG version would have to be in the location already specified in the Install Shield files so I'm not sure all that trouble is worth it.

Also it is possible to extract the .cab files from the expansions installers with Universal Extractor, unfortunately the files aren't in an easy to use folder structure so that's not much good unless there's a way to extract them with the proper folder structure or a way to put the files in the right place. Maybe someone knows a way to do one of those so the expansions could just be "extracted" into the GOG versions folder.

This game hands down had the best multiplayer next to CS 1.6 and I am desperately trying to play multiplayer. Does anyone know of any vanilla 1.4 servers (not running any of the expansions)? If not, does anyone know a way for me to get DRM free copies of the expansions so that I can play on the servers I have found?
Also I had all the cds at one point but I honestly have no idea of their current location. If I searched high and low for them could someone post steps that would allow me to play the game with both expansions without having to use the disc?
