Ich habe da eine Frage zu Star Trek: 25th Anniversary. Und zwar ist mir aufgefallen, dass es anscheinend bei der deutschen Spracheinstellung (im Gegensatz zur englischen) nicht möglich ist, die Textboxen "pausieren" zu lassen, bis man Enter drückt. Ist das normal?

It just might be at least for the White Label version, which is the version we are selling :)

Inzwischen ist die deutsche Version in der Bibliothek nicht mehr vorhanden. Muss ich mir da Sorgen machen oder hat es einen anderen Grund warum die Deutsche Version entfernt wurde?

GOG verwendet das White-Label-Master, das ist mehrsprachig. Wahrscheinlich haben sie bloß wieder die Popups versemmelt.

Das war bei meiner damaligen CD-Version leider auch schon der Fall, das ist kein Fehler der GOG-Fassung.

So, habe es inzwischen selbst herausgefunden. Es reicht der englische Download. Im Installationsverzeichnis befindet sich das Zusatzprogramm "language_setup.exe" um die Deutschen Texte einzustellen. Die überflüssige deutsche Installationsdatei wurde entfernt. Das ergibt dann einen Sinn.

Es gab immer nur eine Installationsdatei. GOG benutzt aber für mehrsprachige Installer verschiedene Links, um Missverständnisse zu vermeiden ("Wo ist denn jetzt die deutsche Version, ich seh da nur Englisch als Option?") - diese Popup-Optionen versemmeln sie aber manchmal, wie jetzt wieder bei Star Trek. Übrigens sind in diesem Fall sogar die originalen DOS-Installationsdateien enthalten, du kannst also die Sprache auch innerhalb der DOSBox durch eine Neuinstallation wechseln. :-)

Die Auswahl "Deutsch" -siehe Bild- ist nicht mehr vorhanden. Und ja, es gab keine deutsche Installationsdatei.

Ja, ich weiß - genau das meine ich mit "Popups versemmelt". Die Dinger sind reine Kosmetik, um Kunden leichter auf Ihre gewünschte Sprache zu verweisen. Warum die (eigentlich sinnvollen) Angaben jetzt wieder verschwunden sind, weiß ich nicht, ist aber immer wieder auch bei anderen Installern der Fall. GOG ist halt ein lustiger Haufen und gelegentlich ein bisschen unsortiert.

Yeah, there's no point in having superfluous links that all point to the same multi-language installer.

if you notice, we did the same with Giants: Citizen Kabuto: one installer, many languages :)

Eine Installationsdatei reicht m.E. und bedeutet für GOG weniger Pflegeaufwand.
Die Irritationen sind beseitigt und man kann sich anderen Aufgaben widmen.

As a temporary workaround (this is OPTIONAL btw :) ) they can do the following:

1. Install the game via Galaxy because the install window shows things like "English + 5 others in-game"
2. Back up the offline installer like normal.

Keep in mind Galaxy can be used, for now, to dispel the notion of "Why is there no German for this game!?!?" while we look for a solution that can be used without needing Galaxy entirely :)

And, of course, Galaxy is not needed to run in the background, just the initial install process :)

I don't need Galaxy or different links, since I know how GOG handles such matters. It was only a theoretical consideration by my side. Theoretically I think different links could have a certain benefit to avoid confusions, but personally and practically I don't need them. :-)
