That's a very generous offer! But seeing as this contest is a community effort started by PaterAlf and kept alive by many others, without any other incentive than just for the fun of it, and with many deserved winners before me, I feel it wouldn't be fair for me to profit of this singular opportunity. We've considered prizes as rewards before but feared it might ruin the carefreeness of it all, so we decided against it. I very much appreciate the thought behind it though, thank you!

Maybe you'd like to take part in the next round? There's still one week left to join and send me your favorite song with food or drinks in the title (in any language I can google). ;)

@Leroux und alle: Leroux hat sicherlich recht und GoG kann uns sicher nicht jedes Mal ein Spiel spendieren (und dann käme ja auch die ganze Rattenschwanz mit Fairness, Regeln & Co., was ich gear nicht möchte), aber ich dachte trotzdem einfach, das es mal eine schöne Überraschung wäre (zur ersten der zweiten 25 Runden ;)).

Das Gespräch mit king_kunat war übrigens auch gleich zu Beginn des Contests, bevor Lieder eingereicht wurden. Und so als erster Sieger von den zweiten 25 Runden kann man doch auch mal eine Aufmerksamkeit für die Community stellvertretend entgegen nehmen. ;)

Ich würde mich freuen, wenn Leroux die Aufmersamkeit von GoG stellvertretend für uns entgegen nimmt. Besonders, weil sich Leroux hier auch immer sehr engagiert. Wenn das aber gar nicht geht, suchen wir eine andere Lösung.

Ansonsten finde ich aber auch, dass king-kunat beim kommenden mitmachen sollte ;)

Ich stimme zu, dass es generell keine zusätzlichen Anreize für den Sieg bräuchte (Stichwort "carefree"). Aber in diesem Einzelfall sehe ich kein Problem darin, dass Leroux verdientermaßen(!) die nette Geste von GOG vertreten durch king_kunat akzeptiert. @Leroux: freue dich über ein schönes Spiel! Glückwunsch! ;-)

Hello king_kunat. Nice surprise to see you here and thank you for your kind words and for showing support for our little game and (after more than two years) beloved community tradition.

I think what would make us even more happy, is someone from GOG taking part in the next round. Or even someone else in each round? I'm sure there are some music lovers at GOG and we always need new participants. :-)

Nimm ruhig an. Hast es dir als Langzeit-Teilnehmer verdient. Ich habe in der Vergangenheit auch schon öfter Überraschungsgeschenke von GOG bekommen und mich immer darüber gefreut. Ist ja auch ein Zeichen von Wertschätzung, das sie der Community zeigen.

With the help of DeepL I produced a quick translation of the current contest's OP containing the rules. Take it with a grain of salt, it might be a bit overwhelming at first, but most of it is tongue-in-cheek, with a few puns that might not translate that well. The short version with the important bits is just:

1. You announce that you would like to participate (as you've already done here).
2. You send me a link to a song of your choice that you'd like to nominate, via PM (I should have it by Sunday, if possible, because that's our current deadline). In this round the theme is food (or drinks), and the idea is that I would be able to list all songs in the form of a menu. So ideally, your song should contain something to eat or drink in the title.

But the main condition is that I could fit it on a menu, so, to give some silly examples, if your song does not contain something like "Pizza" or "Pear" or "Beer" etc., but it has "Pockets" in it or "Gluten", you might still be able to convince me that I could list it as "(Hot) Pockets" or under "Allergens". ;) So there is some wiggle room (even though you should be able to find plenty of songs with actual food in the title.)

Then, once the voting phase starts, next week, I'll post a list of all nominated songs and you'll have three weeks to listen to them and post your votes, Eurovision Song Contest style, like this (example from the last round with the theme of "Time"):

You can't vote for your own song, of course. And that's about it. The song with the most votes wins and whoever nominated it gets to decide the theme of the following round. Whoever ends up in last place, gets to nominate two songs in the following round (if they decide to participate again).

You forgot the most important rule: Always give 12 points to PaterAlf's song. ;-)

Die Regel war mir nicht bekannt, aber wenn das so ist, dann wundert es mich nicht, dass alle immer auf deine Einschätzung warten, bevor sie eine Wertung posten. Woher soll man sonst wissen, welchem Song man 12 Punkte geben muss? ;P

Weniger als 200 Youtubeklicks? Gut, da wäre man eventuell auch mal bei mir gelandet, aber das ist auch übrhaupt nicht verkehrt für 12 Punkte!

Die Regel wird leider auch nur sehr unzureichend umgesetzt wie meine bisherigen 0 Siege in 26 Ausgaben beweisen. Wobei du vermutlich noch derjenige bist, der sie am konsequentesten befolgt. ;-)

Ich glaube aber tatsächlich, dass meine Songs meist recht leicht zu erraten sind.

Vielen Dank für euer gutes Zureden! Mir war nicht bewusst, dass rostfreyh sich schon im Voraus extra darum bemüht hatte, dass dem Gewinner ein Preis spendiert wird, und ich wollte weder undankbar erscheinen noch jemandem in die Parade fahren und alles komplizierter machen. Natürlich freue ich mich auch über die Wertschätzung, die GOG damit zeigt! Da sowohl PaterAlf als Initiator des Contests als auch rostfreyh als Moderator der letzten Runde es für gut befinden, dass ich den Preis stellvertretend für alle entgegennehme, und anscheinend sonst niemand meine Bedenken geteilt hat, habe ich beschlossen, king_kunats großzügige Geste zu würdigen und mir selbst dieses Glück einfach mal zu gönnen.

Ich denke zwar nicht, dass ich es als mehr oder weniger zufälliger Gewinner der letzten Runde verdient hätte, zumal es so knapp war - aber vielleicht als regelmäßiger Teilnehmer von Anfang an, der bisher kein Mal ausgesetzt hat, auch wenn seine Songs von allen am öftesten auf dem letzten Platz gelandet sind (nämlich ganze sechs Mal, wenn ich mich nicht verzählt habe)? ;D
