Galaxy 2.0 - no thankyou, can I please have the old interface back??????

- Why are people so obsessed with purple???? - Get rid of it or let me decide the colour scheme.
- Ugly brown background - Get rid of it or let me decide the colour scheme.
- Left side bar with pointless items on it like Friends, Activity, Online, my friend list is empty and I intend on keeping it that way. Its just a waste of space. - All I need is a list of my games, nothing else.
- I don't need Recent games, Owned games, Installed games, what I need is a way to stop you from adding freebie games to my list when I didn't ask for them. I will never install those games, get rid of them. I want a simple list of all my games minus the rubbish you forced me to have:
- Beneath A Steel Sky - don't want it, not a game I will ever play.
- Lure of the Temptress (writing is so small I cant even tell if that's the name) - don't want it, get it out of my library.
- Teen Agent - garbage, remove it from my library.
- Tyrian 200 - Another load of rubbish I don't need, I want to delete it.

Why am I forced to keep these games? I didn't ask you to add them to my library. Admittedly they have been there before Galaxy 2.0, but if you want to provide me with a new feature then let me get rid of these stupid games I never wanted in the first place.

What I want from GoG Galaxy:
- A list of my games and icons on the left
- A list of my games on the right in the tiled view
- A button to get to the store
- The ability to get rid of freebie games you forced me to have, plus the ability to op out of freebie games during purchasing so I only get games I actually want.
- NOTHING ELSE.

i would add the ability to put in a detail/list view on the right like we can right now. and the ability to easily access the forums/community stuff. everything else i agree with.
Even if the OP might be right in some points, this can be expressed in more friendly words.
You don't like this, you don't want that, features and looks have to be exactly the way you want them to be.
The client was not developed especially for you and since everyone has different requirements and opinions, this surely is not possible.

To at least respond a little bit to your post in terms of content:
Games that you don't want to have you can hide. Then you don't have to see them anymore. Also I'm sure the support team can remove these games from your library if you ask nicely.
As for the desired store button: as far as I remember it is already in the left sidebar. If not, you can activate it in the settings.

manual hiding of games, when you have a large games list full of stuff you don't play much any more. that is not a good idea.

1 & 2. "Owned Games" is what you want here. If you want to always see this option, you can go to Settings > General > Starting Page. Meanwhile, "Installed" is useful for quickly finding what you're already playing, and you can simply just ignore "Recent".
3. Settings > Interface > Store
4. As others have said, just manually hide them. You already had to do this in both Galaxy 1.2 and the web interface so this is not a Galaxy 2.0 issue.

yowshi: manual hiding of games, when you have a large games list full of stuff you don't play much any more. that is not a good idea.
Two options:

1. Mark every game you don't want to play any more as "Done" or "Completed" or such.
2. In the "Owned Games" view, go to the Filter and in Tags, check every tag except the one you just made.
3. Click the bookmark icon, and name the new view to whatever you find best.

Or (the option I personally am using):

1. Give a personal rating to every game you don't want to play any more.
2. In the "Owned Games" view, go to the Filter and check Rating > "No Rating"
.3. Click the bookmark icon, and name the new view to whatever you find best (I'm using "Potential Games to Play".)

I get there's some issues that are genuine valid complaints (I agree that the color scheme should be customizable or things like importing existing tags from the web interface) but there's other cases where folks seem to be going straight to the forums to complain without looking at the interface first. Or cases where people are complaining about things you can easily ignore because there's multiple ways to sidestep them completely. I agree it would still be best if everything about the sidebar was customizable, but right now the extra options aren't hurting you and some of them are actually even useful if you try them out with an open mind.

Like for instance I actually loved the Installed tab because it effectively automatically eliminated the need for the manual "Currently Playing" tag I used for a similar purpose in 1.2.

except the list on the left in 1.2 shows you the games you've most recently played. it's sorted by most recently played by default. and you can tell how long ago since you last played a game at a glance.
my preference for this kayout is based in simplicity. i didn;t have to hunt around or set tags on a bunch of games manually. it's all right there and everything is very easy to find largely because it isn't split up into multiple places and i don't have to manually set every last little thing just to make things easy to find.

if you want that level of customizeability and the complication it brings to getting set up into a useable format then all's good for you. but if you're like me and you just want a simple setup that has everything right there already then you are shit out of luck in 2.0.

I think it is worth noting that steam did basically exactly this sort of layout change. and many people weren't happy with that and forced a rollback to older versions on their own systems. so this isn't just something for gog. many people just don't like these kinds of views. and i get that many either don't care or do like them. but i would ask, what about all the people who don't like them and feel entirely screwed over by this change?

There are features still missing (is still a beta), but you are whining about stuff you don't want to learn. It's a fact.

See attachment to find the sorting option for a "most recently played" layout.

ys i kind of am, because i didn;t have to do a complicated manual setup for the old version. i JUST said this. yes there are options for all those things i said, probably it is a beta, and more. but i liked the version where i didn't have to spend 3 hours making the launcher useable.

I have hundreds of GoG games. Maybe I don't want to use the hide feature in this way because I use the hide feature for a different purpose. Tags suck. They suck in every Galaxy I've come accross. I want to use them to find a Child Friendly RPG (I have tagged games By Child Adult <or neither>, RPG, Space, Shooter, Racer, Simulation, Horror, Arcade, Adventure, Tech, etc). I filter Child and RPG and Space. You know what I get? I get every RPG, every Space, every Child game. It's next to worthless. I get Space Horror's Adult, I get all RPG's which is probably close to half my vast library etc.. This isn't a rant on 2.0, its a rant on your 'solution'. It's a lot of work using an inherently faulty system. In my opinion. If it works for you, great.

I currently use something similiar, but rarely every actually click on the filter tag system. But I have put several games headed with Play Next, Classics, Playing Now. It kinda works, in a limited, unsatisfying way, but it also kinda doesn't work. My opinion on games change with my mood and what I might think is not worth of Play Next might be exactly what I am looking for on a particular day (out of the blue, lets say Train Simulation). But I can't filter to find Train Simulation games, because of the reasons I've mentioned. Train might work, but only because I only have a couple of games pertaining to Trains. Change it to something where both descriptors have dozens of examples and the value becomes apparent how limited it is.

Add my voice to the chorus of discontent. I liked the original Galaxy interface, it gave me my installed games on the left, and I could sort my games by purchase date in the main panel - it's all I needed. I gave my feedback in the beta, and no they don't have to listen to me which is fine.

So, since I'm never going to use Galaxy with the wasted left bar and no ability to sort titles how I want them sorted, I was prepared to delete Galaxy altogether. It now turns out that I'm not able to download directly from the website anymore. I'm being FORCED to use a piece of software which I feel is garbage to even access my library of 700+ titles.

I think I'm done with GOG.

If it's "still a beta", HOW COME THERE IS NO SUPPORTED OPT OUT FUNCTION any more?

Here's a suggestion for how to fix it:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general_beta_gog_galaxy_2.0/alternative_layout_suggestion_more_like_12
