Hi all,

I installed GOG 2.0 today and my first impression was great.
Since I have now linked my Steam library I noticed that some games (most of them indie games) do not have a tile image and some of the existing images are too big and only a cutout is displayed. Will these images still be added / edited by GOG or will the images be imported by Steam? Would add the images manually but if GOG is still working on it I will save my time and wait.

We are constantly working on improving experience and visual layer of covers and artwork.

For now I would like to ask you for one thing

If you see games with extremely poor (in your opinion) or missing arts/covers please report them through mantis and we'll be tackling them as first prio.

You can of course change the images or suggest them to us as well:)

Glad to hear it. Just one question.
If some cover art is improved from your side but I have changed an image on my own I guess that restoring defaults will show your new art, but would it be possible rolling back to my personalized cover image? Does it saves itself for later uses or is it deleted?
Greetings

Thanks for the answer and great to hear that you also care about something like that.
I will list all games with missing and bad cover and will report them via Mantis.

In the menu where you can change the picture you have a purple X in the upper right corner from the cover.
If you click this it will delete your own picture and you will see the default picture in the small preview. if you do not like the default, just click on cancel below and your own picture will stay.

Can you make the gog game covers more "zoomed out" and more like how they looked originally when they came out? For example on Bioshock the logo is currently in the bottom when it should be on the top and the big daddy character is too zoomed in so his fist is "cut off". Jazz Jack Rabbit 2 only has one character and not both characters shown, etc

Honest question, can GOG now just basically borrow pictures from the new Steam library?

Since lately for my Steam games that have bad-looking or no tile pics in Galaxy, I've literally just been digging into the Steam program folders, resizing the pics from there a little, and inputting them into Galaxy.

Steam's images at 600x900, slightly more vertical, but you can use them in Galaxy - it just crops the top/bottom slightly. I've switched mostly to Galaxy myself but I make mine 600x900 and take the cropping into account so my images are useable on both clients (also, 600x900 is higher resolution and looks crisper).

I used to make images for Steam but since they changed dimensions I've just been redoing stuff for Galaxy/Steam2.0:
http://galaxy.cryotank.net/

Most default 600x900 Steam images do end up working fine in Galaxy. If you don't want to search through folders here's a way to grab those images through the web:
https://www.reddit.com/r/steamgrid/comments/d6ha6f/universal_link_for_downloading_games_cover/

There are a couple reddits with stuff for Steam/Galaxy, and you can make requests here, just keep in mind you need the non-animated ones for Galaxy:
https://www.reddit.com/r/GOGtiles/
https://www.reddit.com/r/steamgrid/new/

And these websites have images that should work with Steam and Galaxy:

Thank you! Had admittedly just been hoping for something a little more automated, but having a much easier way to locate the pics still helps a fair bit.

Haven't really bothered with the galleries/requests because for me a lot of the games that have weird or no tile pics are ones that are obscure oddball indie games so the chances are pretty low for anyone else being interested. X3
