As an example I have a tag called "completed" but I just realized that the tags are ordered alphabetically. So I would either like the ability to edit the tag completed so it has a z in front of it and therefor is at the bottom of the list or the ability to manually order my tags so that completed games is at the bottom of my list.

If this is already a thing please call me an idiot and show me how.
I'm afraid not, there's no option to re-name tags. Only thing you can re-name (and reorder) are 'bookmarks' created out of a tag. What I you'd do is, for example, you can separate your game list (or grid) into tags and then you keep your 'completed' list 'contracted', leaving the rest 'expanded'.

But renaming tags would be a welcomed feature.

I'm going through the slog of re-organizing my library and I second this feature.

_ess_: I'm going through the slog of re-organizing my library and I second this feature.
I agree, it would be incredibly useful.
Dang yeah this is really needed.

Shouldn't be a "slog" to organize your games lol
+1
+1 need this feature bad
I just made the mistake to import steam tags ... now I have tags like "duplicate on GOG" (which is the category I use to hide those games in the steam library)

Any idea how to reset tags completely (which file to delete for example)? I would not mind if all were gone.

Unfortunately there appears no way to bulk edit at this time because the tags are forcibly restored from GOG upon reconnect.

As an example I gave all the Avernum games the tag "AvernumSaga"
Exit Galaxy 2.0
Disconnect from Internet
Load ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage\galaxy-2.0.db in a program able to read/write SQLite DBs
Run command -- UPDATE "main"."UserReleaseTags" SET "tag" = "AverSaga" WHERE "tag" = "AvernumSaga"
Start Galaxy 2.0 and notice the changed tags are reflected.
Exit Galaxy 2.0 to try and force the tags be saved.
Start Galaxy 2.0 and notice the new tag is still "AverSaga"
Connect to the internet and let Galaxy put you online.
Tag returns to "AvernumSaga"

As such, currently no external bulk ability and none internal to the application due to the forced cloud restore.

-- Just tested this is actually worse and a major bug
If one uses the client to change tags while offline then goes online, the tags are restored from the online DB even though the tags were changed in the client.
For this test I used the previously assigned "AvernumSaga" tags.
I disconnected from the internet with the client still running.
I removed the tag from game one of the series and added a dummy tag of "test" and added the "AvernumSaga" to a clearly unrelated game
I exiting the Galaxy client
I started the Galaxy client and confirmed the client saved the changed made in the client
I then reconnected to the internet and the tag changes done while offline in the Galaxy client were undone and the old ones were restored. - The unrelated game no longer had any tag, and the first game in the Avernum series had the "AvernumSaga" tag restored. The "test" tag was completely vanished.
The changes made in the client were completely undone upon reconnecting to the internet.

PSA from this is don't edit tags offline till that is fixed.

By now I know that the whole information is stored in a SQL Lite database.
The quick and dirty way was to delete that database, after that I had to re-import the whole library and add the manually added games again.

If I am ever so bored, I'll look in the database and see if I can do some SQL Updates.

Maybe then I'll laso find a way to add a launcher free version of a game which I also own on one of the integrated platforms. Currntly there is no clean way to do that.
I can't even find a way to create tags on galaxy. Definitely could use more user control over tags.
Still no way to edit tags?

Seriously.

+1 this would really improve the user experience.
under the current system you can remove tags and make a new one

you also have the option to import tags but I tested and found that very buggy
Please add this! I really want to change my RTS tag to Strategy (added several turn-based games). It's such a basic yet important feature to have.
