lol this is the first thing I noticed; aside from the great selection of video games, to which I made some hasted purchases: because these things were on sale. Now, i'm playing games like Riven, at a great price. but the client just won't close without me force quitting the application. I thought it has something to do with the app running in the background while I am at other tasks; that wasn't the case. So, I saw this post, seems to be a problem. GoodLuck!!
Have we had ANY word on this from GOG? I am just mystified that this is still an issue after over a year!

Running Sequoia 15.3.1 on a Mac mini from 2023 and dutifully updating my OS and the GOG Galaxy 2.0 client every time I can and keep hoping for a miracle that never occurs... and this really shouldn't require a miracle!

Same here! Sequoia 15.3.1! Please fix, so annoying to have to force quit always!
GOG, ARE YOU SERIOUS? It's been YEARS!! So annoying! How has this not been fixed by now?
I'll add myself to the list of people experiencing issues. I'm not much of a Mac gamer, but I recently bought a MacBook Air M3 and was curious if it could run Pathfinder: Path of the Righteous. I picked up that game and Legend of Grimrock on sale.

The latter has some issues on Mac as it is; when you touch the settings, it saves the string 'nil' in its config file as the screen resolution to use, which stops the game from launching entirely. Luckily that can be fixed by updating the config file and setting the resolution manually. With all my attempts getting the game to run, I also closed and relaunched the Galaxy app a few times. Or so I thought. It was running twice at some point, which caused a weird issue in Legend of Grimrock where I had to double click menu options for them to work, and interacting with items in the world downright didn't work. A single click did nothing, a double click picked something up and immediately put it down again. So not only is it messing up macOS processes and hogging CPU, it's also messing with the games it launches. That click issue was immediately resolved when I had force quit everything GOG-related.

I guess I'll just delete Galaxy and download the game installers from the website instead?
I've had this issue since ~2020 when GoG v2 came out. It's been almost 5 years now and they still haven't fixed it. I have my doubts this will be fixed soon - prove me wrong devs..

In the mean time, I deleted the app as this put me off using it enough that I'm back to using Steam / Epic.
24.03.2025 - still the issue persists and drives me crazy. please fix

It is fixed !! In today’s beta update ! And it works, cmd+q closed gog. And judging, from the changelog it looks like the gogconnect bug is fixed too. Yeah ! I know it’s been a long time, but I’m happy Gog managed to have the time and resources to fix it.
Confirmed! It's fixed! Our long nightmare is over!
The issue has finally been fixed!
Holy S***, finally...

Thanks for reporting this!
