Hi. As the topic clearly states, GOG Galaxy 2.0 Beta cannot be stopped from launching whenever I start my computer up.
Permissions to allow GOG Galaxy to launch at login have been all deselected from every possible preferences window available.

DOCK
I have made sure the Open at Login feature is deselected (directly from the Dock).
MACOS SYSTEM PREFERENCES
The System Preferences / Users & Groups / Login Items pane does not even list GOG Galaxy in it. So there is nothing there to remove.
GOG GALAXY 2.0 PREFERENCES
I oppened GOG Galaxy and from its own Preferences I unchecked the Login at Startup option.

And yet, without exception, every time I turn on my computer there it is GOG Galaxy launching without permission.

I include a screencap of my computer at the moment where GOG Galaxy is trying to load and how its Dock icon shows that the option to open at login is unchecked. And I inserted the preferences pane of my Mac to show how it is not included in the items that are actually allowed to do so. I didn't include a screencap of the Galaxy's Preferences pane because I already uninstalled Galaxy, but trust me, I made triple sure the option was unselected.

And since I'm here...
ANOTHER BOTHER
That is not the only problem with it that I experienced, lethargy is another.
GOG Galaxy takes around 10 seconds just to close when I quit it. Even when I'm already logged-off.
In general, not only it starts without permission, it slows down the whole startup process of my computer considerably.

My computer's specs are as follow:
iMac (21.5 inch, late 2012)
OS: MacOS Sierra (10.12.6) (16G2136)
Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 512 MB

That's it.
I've tried thrice now to use GOG Galaxy and love it, alas, those lofty goals have never been reached.

I hope this helps depurate the software and make it better.

I also have this problem and I'm about >< this close to uninstalling the whole thing and saying "SCREW IT!"

I'm running version Version 2.0.14 (253) which doesn't look like it's a beta any more, so even more infuriating..

In addition to having tried all the things you've tried, I've also tried using launchctl to remove its LaunchDaemon and then deleting the associated PList and privileged helper tool. Nope! Doesn't work. Except that next time, when it launches on boot, it complains that vital tools it needs aren't there and that I can't use GOG Galaxy unless I reinstall them. I thought I knew every trick in the book for making things launch on startup on the Mac, but apparently I don't.

This is SO infuriating. Please someone tell us the secret to making this stop. I play games on my machine once in a blue moon, but I use it for work every single day, and this is just maddening beyond belief.

Thanks!

Seriously Galaxy developers, just as the rightfully annoyed user ipmcc above me conveys: This just won't do.

The behaviour of your application as described is truly intrusive (and at least in my case tremendoulsy disruptive since it slows the launch process of my machine noticeably).
This stuff is, well, Steam-stuff.

It's been almost half a year after I posted this and not a comment (except from another baffled user), not even to mention if these are isolated cases and ipmcc and I are just very unlucky people.

Is this being looked at? Has it been replicated? Is it even considered something worth looking at? Is a solution forthcoming?

I hope the answers to all of that are YES, and I hope someone from GOG post those (or any) answers here.
(- _ -' )
I am uninstalling this client because I can not prevent it from starting when logging in.

I love GOG as a company and the client is good, but I want to choose when I launch it and it comes across as intrusive that there is NO way to change the default setting. This is not respecting the user by forcing it to launch on login. I understand why this is the case from a business perspective, but it is leaving a bad taste for GOG in my mouth.

I really hope they fix this issue.
I'm also uninstalling galaxy because i can't get it to stop launching on startup
I had the same problem. Deleted the old client, downloaded and installed the latest client. Turned off auto startup in preferences. Now no longer launching on startup.
