I received access to the beta today and have a couple of questions.

Is it possible to change the game platform of a manually added game?
I’ve started to manually add my Nintendo Switch library, just to have a catalogue of those games, but the game platform is “Other”, and I can’t see a way to change this.
Also, I’ve found that if I own the game on another platform, and it’s already been added via an integration, I can’t then manually add it again, say if I own a copy on PS4 and want to add a Nintendo Switch version.

Is it currently possible to do either of these, or are they something that may be added in the future?

My guess is that underneath the hood, each platform has an ID, and that ID is used to look up the name. If so, then it makes sense that it wouldn't allow you to change the name, though I suppose that they could just let you muck with the platform name as long as it's "Other." That would require that they have a way to store the name separate from the ID though, and I'd bet that right now, they don't.

Certainly, if it uses the name to figure out the platform for the game, and you can then change the name, then it would cause problems if you changed any game that was from a connected platform or if you changed any game that was Other to one of the connected platforms.

So, I'm sure it could be done, but there are some nuances with it that risk weird bugs if they're not careful, and I'd be surprised if their current implementation really stored the actual platform name for any of the games.

I think I understand what your saying, programming is not a strong suit of mine.

I've got around the problem using tags and bookmarks for now. I've manually added my Switch library and I'm going through changing one or two of the auto downloaded tile images so everything looks clean.

One of the things I didn't really think about, but may end up being really useful, is that Galaxy 2.0 is a great way of keep a catalog of all my games, even if I can't use the platform to launch them. I'm a bit of a collector and can sometime loose track of what I own on what platform.

All in all I think Galaxy looks great, can't really see myself using anything else now.

About changing the platform name, I'm afraid not, perhaps in the future. The workaround, as you pointed out, is using tags/bookmark.

Regarding games owned from a platform and not being able to manually add them... who knows what they can come up in the future. We know it's possible to show "duplicated" games from different integrated platforms. But a quick, complement feature would allow adding games manually like Steam does: they don't care about whether the game exists in the database or not; as long as you can point to an .exe.

EDIT: Though I just thought it out now: I'm a PC only gamer, pointing to an .exe file from a Nintendo Switch game version wouldn't help much. :D

There is a way to that, meaning - to add another instance of an already integrated game, which will get the "other" platform.

To do that:
1. Click "Add game manually".
2. Search for the game.
3. Make sure the purple line which indicates the selected game is on the game you want - you can move this purple line with the keyboard arrow buttons (in any case don't click on the game using the mouse because that will open its screen from which you won't be able to do this).
4. When the game is selected with the purple line, click the button "Mark as owned" which is to the right of the search bar. This will add an instance labeled as "other", regardless of existing integrations.

I've imported my Switch games and used this method to also add any duplicates which were already integrated. Notice however that if a game is already added as "other", you can't use this method to add even another instance. Currently we have only this single "other" slot for each game.

Hope that helps.
