I'm having too this and other issues since the last updates. For now can't launch it, and, it's not running any processes.

EDIT: Deleting the lock file worked. There was some component missing yesterday, but it launched anyway. The last updates seems not so stable for me here.

kornizkit: This worked for me also.

If your a noob like me, good luck finding the "programData" folder these guys are talking about.

For Windows 10 users, like myself.

Go to your search bar at the bottom of your desktop and type in Run

Then in the Run bar type in c:\programdata and it will take you straight to the Program Data folder

After that click on the following
GOG.com
Galaxy
lock-files
Then delete the "GalaxyClient.exe.lock" file
Thank you for writing your post in human speak.
This has happened to me three times now. Gog - what the heck?

Deleting Both LOCK Files in the path below Worked Perfectly!

C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\lock-files

Thanks!
Same problem here. The solution to delete the file in lock-files worked.
I wondering thats gog not react with a fix ore update. Seems to be a blocker-feature for gog games and not everybody looks in this forum maybe...
I have same problem anyone can help us?

The solution has been posted in this thread already.

GOG should fix the client though, so we wouldn't have to keep doing this.

It's happened to me often enough that I wrote up a little batch script to delete the file with a click.

You know a program has issues when it's worth bothering with that.

Seriously, GOG, fix this. It's not funny.

This worked well for me, thank you! Such an odd 'error' with the software.
this is bad, why gog does not care about us users? so may complains and still nothing done

Thank you so much for wording this in a way i understood how to find the program data. this helped a lot.
I am having exactly the same problem and can't launch GOG Galaxy because of that. For me the mentioned fix does not work.

When I delete the file
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\lock-files\GalaxyClient.exe.lock
or even the whole folder
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\lock-files

The lock file is simply recreated when I try to launch the client.
Of course, I've also reinstalled GOG Galaxy and restarted my PC a couple of times, but this didn't fix the problem.

Do you mean that even after you delete this file, then you cannot START the Galaxy client, or that the file just appears again?

The existence of the file is not bad by itself. The client creates this file on start, and it is supposed to delete this file when it terminates. The problem appears when the client has stopped working, but failed to delete this file.

Are you still getting that error message when you start the client after deleting this file?

Yes, I am getting this message when I try to start the client. Then I delete the file "GalaxyClient.exe.lock" and try to start GOG Galaxy again - the error message appears again and I cannot use the client.

Edit: Success! I went through all subfolders in "C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\" and while doing so, Windows Explorer told me for a few subfolders, that I don't have sufficient permission to open that folder and I need to confirm this message. After doing so, I could open these folders - and I could also launch the Galaxy Client after that.
