Hi there!

I just installed GOG Galaxy Version 2.0.37.330 Beta on Mac OS Big Sur 11.2.3 on my MacBook Air 13" 2020.

After launch GOG Galaxy crashes after a few seconds with the following error: "Connection to Communication Service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown." (see attached screenshot)

Is this a known bug? Is there still some possibility to download GOG Galaxy Version 1?

Thanks in advance!

Stefan

I've found myself in a similar struggle, have you had any luck in resolving the issue?
I have the same Problem - any solution ?
I have the same problem too.
Still no fix.

+1: same problem here. Maybe it's a server issue?
Bumping this, I have this issue on Ventura on a M1 Max Macbook Pro (2021)
The same issue here with M1 MacBook Pro 14" and Ventura....I already deleted the app and reinstalled it four times but I always get the same error message :(....

Exactly! im running gog on MacOS Ventura 13.4 on MacBook Pro 2020 2-thunderbolt and it just crashes on boot up
So, it's October 2023, am I to assume this issue just isn't going to be addressed?
Issue persists to this day. Does not seem Mac OS version specific.

It seems that installing over the old version caused this error for me.

Uninstall it first, then reinstall it.

Update:

Nope, that does not seem to be it. Error came back. I noticed my wifes account was signed in on the mac.

So Now I think if you share your mac with another account, and their account is not signed out, this error occurs. I rebooted and now it works again.

Apple products are just awful IMO. Overpriced garbage.

Seeing that Gog people are apparently not interesting in fixing their own bugs, here's a workaround for those insisting upon using the client:

Open a terminal, paste /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/redists/GalaxyCommunication and hit enter. This will launch the aforementioned "communication service" and will allow you to run the Galaxy client. Don't close the terminal until you've closed Galaxy or it will immediately crash. Once you close Galaxy, you can Ctrl-C the process and close the terminal.

However, considering the amount of attention Gog gives their Galaxy product (i.e. none whatsoever), and considering no one ever got fired for not fixing bugs (but hey! new "discovery" panel), I endorse not using it altogether.
