Yesterday , the 2.0.48 Beta (April 26th , 2022) was implemented , but it gave the error : " Failed to load game database " .
Today , the 2.0.49 Hotfix (April 27th , 2022) was implemented . to fix the previously mentioned error . And ,while I read that the 2.0.48 Beta update added the much desired " Check for updates " MANUALLY feature , when I press it , a small black window appears at the bottom of the client which says : " Checking for GOG GALAXY updates... " , but it does so forever .I know there 's probably not a new update since the last hotfix was implemented literally some tens of minutes ago , but , please gog ,fix it to correctly tell us whether there is a client update or not .

I already have the latest version, 2.0.49.1. It behaves the same way for me: Checking for GOG Galaxy updates... just sticks there. Nothing relevant is blocked from accessing the Internet.
Same experience with the updater. It just sits there and does nothing. All my other game clients work 100%. I just did a fresh re-install of Windows 11 on the weekend. Everything was good. Or so I thought. Logged into GOG Galaxy after taking the time to install the OS and update my drivers and do tweaking etc.. Everything seemed good. I logged out of GOG and came back in afterwards and it got stuck at 28% importing my database. Tried editing my DB file with SQL. Tried installing the hotfix from April 27. Uninstalled and re-installed. That just made things WORSE. Now it does not see my installed games even when I point Galaxy to my game install directory. I said screw it and formatted my hard drive yesterday and re-installed everything again except for GOG Galaxy. Hope they get this mess sorted out soon since I'd like to play my GOG games again and be able to take advantage of cloud saves and auto updates, etc.. Pretty upset right now but I've been a customer of GOG for about ten years now and problems are few and far between. I just hope they get Galaxy back to the way it was before this debacle.

Wuzzles: Now it does not see my installed games even when I point Galaxy to my game install directory.
The following should work:
1. Have the latest version installed, which currently is 2.0.49.1. Make sure GOG Galaxy isn't running.
2. In the File Explorer address bar, paste C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\
3. Delete the storage folder.
4. When you next start GOG Galaxy, it will take some time to import game data from your account. Once that process finishes, you can click the cogwheel in the top left, and choose Add games & friends, then Scan folders for GOG Games to add your games that are already installed.

I didn't have any database load issues even before the hotfix, but I had to do the above for a different reason and it worked for me.

Thanks Ice_Mage for the reply and detailed instructions! As I say, I formatted my hard drive after experiencing multiple issues with GOG Galaxy a few days ago and have not re-installed Galaxy at all on my current (brand new) install of Windows. Hopefully there are no hiccups when I do install GOG Galaxy again but I will copy your instructions above should any issues arise. Since I have not heard much in the way of complaints the past couple of days, I'm hopeful that the issues are behind us. I am spooked at the moment so I might wait a few days and enjoy games from other services in the meantime in case Galaxy does get another update. Thanks again.
Today , I launched GOG Galaxy 2.0 (2.0.49 Hotfix version) and it worked fine for me ,after a few seconds , I got the message tha thtere was no further update .
