The goal behind GOG GALAXY 2.0 is to bring all your games and friends together in one place. Today, a new partner joins us and takes us another step closer to achieving it.

We’re happy to add to GOG GALAXY 2.0 the official integration with Epic Games Store, which is the second most connected external platform in the app, says Oleg Klapovsky, SVP at GOG. Together with GOG.COM and Xbox Live, those official integrations are bringing a more seamless and reliable experience to gamers.

We’re excited that Epic Games Store integration has come to GOG GALAXY 2.0, said Steve Allison, General Manager of the Epic Games Store. It’s an important step towards breaking down walls between PC stores, as it enables a unified experience for players to manage their PC games library independent of where their games were purchased.

The new official integration is the latest addition to GOG GALAXY 2.0, which we’re constantly improving with features requested by gamers. One of the recently added was the ability to see all your gaming subscriptions in one place. It helps gamers to conveniently browse, install, and launch games from an overwhelming amount of titles available on each subscription.

Couldn't care less about Epic. Buying exclusives and forcefully preventing access to other stores is a thing I'll not support. By officially integrating those bastards in a way GoG is shoveling their own grave. But ok, if they don't care, why should I?
Questions:
1 does this mean that from now on the connection between the 2 platforms will never be lost like in the past? Like, I install GOG Galaxy 2 and it finds the EGS by itself, no need to reconnect?
2 what else is changing? Can we play online games multi-platform? I almost exclusevily play solo offline games but I would like to know just in case.

segle: It's mentioned in many places (like just under the download button in the gog galaxy website) that it's still a beta.

So, yeah, maybe it's unrealistic to expect it to be as stable as a stable version, don't you think ?
It wasn't our decision to switch from stable 1.2 to 2.0 beta, it was a forced update.

So, since there is no way to not participate in this beta (officially revert to 1.2 until 2.0 is out of beta), this version is now treated as "stable" because it's the only one available.

Yeah. Nope. Epic's values are clearly not consumer oriented and I'm not buying their "bringing down walls" spiel.
Nice! Good job!

I hope you will be able to get the other platforms officially integrated soon too!
And, as probably everybody else, am crossing my fingers for Steam to be the next one.
Great job!
I know official cooperation like this are often very hard political / legal work!
Is this just an integration or will there be a sharing of people's account details from GoG to Epic as well?
Ah, so Galaxy is becoming an Epic exclusive. ;-)

Not that i really care, but having a multitude of options and features is always a good thing. So, thumbs up from me.
Nice, though I can understand the epic hate, I honestly don't give a shit, life's too short to be hung up on this, I just buy where the games are available and cheaper, which in AAA case's it's usually never GOG and steam doesn't give me regional pricing.

"GREAT"...

Official one works WORSE than unofficial...

After patch GoG does NOT detect anymore my installed Epic games... even if game is installed after this patch...

obliviondoll: OK... I mean... it's cool, but...

You still haven't addressed the fact that Galaxy 2.0 is still obviously not ready for launch

Well, that would be a valid argument IF YOU COULD OPT OUT OF IT BY OPTING OUT OF BETA TESTING.

But you can't. If you were using the pre-2.0 Galaxy it auto-updates to 2.0 in violation of the "opt out of beta testing" setting. Whether it SAYS it's a beta or not, it's not being competently TREATED as a beta. And the company has claimed that only the new features are beta, and that all pre-existing functionality works correctly. This has been repeatedly proven to be objectively false. But they're not openly acknowledging it.

And as an added bonus, they forced the new client onto everyone while they had an already-known FOUR WEEK QUEUE on support tickets. In spite of being that far behind - and still being that far behind, and in at least one instance I know of, taking more than 3 months to reply instead of the quoted 4 weeks - they decided to push a massive update onto everyone with ALREADY-KNOWN severe platform-breaking problems in it. All the problems with basic functionality were reported - multiple times each - while the Galaxy 2.0 beta was still being treated as beta. They weren't caught by surprise with an unexpected problem they could have avoided if they had warning.

They knew, in advance, everything they SHOULD have needed to know to avoid pushing Galaxy 2.0 onto users like this.

Can I load my Games on Epics GUI because at least their app works...
Ever since I downloaded and installed GOG 2.0 I have been unable to get it to work, and your support is next to nothing, resulting in your FINAL Solution telling me to download the games and not use the GOG App.

Artfactial: This is pretty good news, well done!:)

Epic talking about 'breaking down walls' between PC stores while forcefully buying timed exclusives is kind of odd...
But it is a good move either way.
With Epic and Microsoft leading the way hopefully the other platforms will follow suit!
Those exclusives were only for a year and it was for Epic to really get it's foot in the door. Have you seen any major exclusives to The EGS since? Btw, there's way more exclusives on Valves hentai selling machine, Steam and they've also partnered with EA
Do I have to use Epic's launcher if I were to connect an Epic account to Galaxy?

If you want to install an Epic Store game or start a game requiring the launcher, then yes.
