I just updated to the GOG Galaxy 2.0 client whilst playing Divinity Original Sin 2. At one point I tried to save and got the dreaded 525 error.

I exited the game, checked my HDD space and found there was more than enough for a save. Then I inspected the installation folder and noticed lots of the game files missing. In the client itself the game showed up as uninstalled and importing it simply restarts the installation.

I'm really frustrated because my saves are gone - they're not on the PC and are not on the cloud either (at least there's no obvious way to find them).

Can someone help please? I'm really frustrated, I've sunk tens of hours into the game, I don't want all of my progress wiped.
