That's pretty much it... anyone had this issue before? Fully closing the program didn't work, neither did rebooting the computer.

Nevermind, uninstalled and reinstalled and now it works... Quite the drastic measure though, as I now have to log in back to everything again and connect all the platforms. Tags are gone too. I'd prefer if this could be avoided in the future.

Didn't work for me. Have the same grey window that pops-up and there's nothing in it.
I can only suggest sending a bug report. I didn't get this problem since then, and it doesn't seem like a common issue with how few people seem to mention it.
shut Galaxy down, stop doing anything that uses up internet access and then start Galaxy 2 back up... this is a known issue that was reported on day 1 and is caused by their server not being about to talk to your system
