how long will this take? Why can you integrate Epic gamestore but not Steam. Most of my friends avoid the gog Galaxy client but have Steam. I love the GOG Galaxy client even more than the steam client. But please when will Steam Chat integrated that I can chat with my Steamfriends in Steam with the Gog Galaxy client???

Will this ever be happen?

It's not as simple as implementing a feature. They really have to negotiate proper terms with Valve and ensure that the chat works with their platform in a way that can't be abused or cause harm to either community. Furthermore, the Epic partnership isn't an integration of EGS itself. "Integrations" in Galaxy are merely a means of connecting other launchers with Galaxy so you can use Galaxy as a one-stop launcher for games.

I'd assume that things like that are going to be near the end of the beta period, if not after, as it's not a super important feature and would require a significant amount of communication between GOG and Valve.

Integrating a chat or a store is not the same thing either. You can't just plop an interface and send raw data.

The only things gog can do is implementing existing apis. Basically services that steam, in our case, open to the public.

For obvious legal reasons, they cannot even research a way to be compatible, because that would be basically hacking steam.

It all comes down to this:
Whatever you have on the plugins is basically what steam agreed to share.

And with them having an almost complete control on digital game distribution, they have litterally no incentive to open services.

In fact if you want to see how they react about people walking on their feets, just see how they did their best to fan the flames against epic with metro.
Then they waited until death threat started to happen, to release an half assed appology.

So, in my opinion, it's unlikely steam would open any social feature because they really want to keep people in their ecosystem.
