now that steam pushed an absolute disaster of a library design, i fully intend to use galaxy 2.0 for all my games. however, there are a couple of things i really want this launcher to have

first: i want the option to have small game icons (such as the now-old steam library)
a lot of games don't have those large vertical arts, and the library looks overall jarring with all those blurry rectangles

second: the ability to manually sort your games
this is something the battle.net launcher has had for years, and it kills me that steam didn't - and still doesn't - have it. sometimes i don't want my games to be sorted alphabetically, by time played, or even by metacritics score (which steam apparently thinks people will use). i just to organize them in the way that i personally feel is better.

considering the battlenet launcher has such a feature (as previously mentioned) i can't imagine it being difficult to implement

lastly, and this more of a hope for the future: please, for the love of god, wahtever else you might do; don't ever implement an advertisement section on the goddamn library.

Em... you know you can add tags to your games on Steam and organize them any way you please, right?

Also, the new interface has "collections" which are the same as tags, so Steam already has this feature.

GOG also has bookmarks for the time being, so the functionality is there. Though bookmarks are still a bit clunky IMO.

Exactly, the new Steam library actually has a lot of the features people are asking for in Galaxy 2, that are missing from Galaxy 2 this moment, so it's quite ironic that so many Steam users are coming here (not talking about OP specifically) to ask for beta invites, expecting Galaxy 2 to be what they want, when in reality it isn't (right now) and Steam actually is.

First, they flooded the Steam forums and now they're coming here (some of them begging for beta invites).

I don't get this mindset at all and they are not beta tester material by any means.

I think it's a pretty unfair claim. Design is one thing, functionality an intuitiveness is another, and surely it doesn't take much time to figure out how poor Valve's new library is, with same information like total play time, achievements, or even basic game info (singl/multi player, controller support, etc.) being repeated multiple times on one screen. Add poor performance and bugs to this equation, and you get something that should have never left alpha test stages.

As for Steam users migrating in masses, I guess it's nothing bad. In fact, I think it's somewhat flattering they see Galaxy 2.0 as a valid alternative that could be the ultimate launcher. Especially since GOG has legendary customer support and since their community is smaller, there's higher chance they'll listen to some request. Seems like a win-win situation if you ask me, with GOG having a real shot at getting new audiences. And while yes, many of them whines about beta invitations, I guess you'll agree with me that more attention and interest can be pretty beneficial to Galaxy's future.

RickMelethron made few valid points, like no advertisements in the library window or more sorting options. Tags exist, and they do their job, but there's always room for improvement and more freedom - greatest example being our inability to slect multiple games at once to tag them, which sucks big time.
I, personally, would like to see folder-like structure made out of tags, similar to groups on Steam. That's a very intuitive feature.

And while we're discussing some requests, I'd like to throw my 2 cents, since I don't want to start a new pointless thread. It would be great if achievements screen had some sorting options. Sorting achies alphabetically, by popularity, or display only ones we didn't get yet, would be a very nice touch. Also, aside from completion percentage, I think it wouldn't hurt if number of achies we have and in total, were displayed as well.

I'm talking about a very specific group of Steam users.
You're obviously not a part of that group as you gave actual reasons as to why you dislike it, so there's no reason for you to get defensive about it.

People really need to stop getting so up in arms about their opinion on the whole Steam UI thing, you can't even point out that some people are just straight up complaining because they simply don't like the look of the UI and don't even want to look at the new features (and there's a lot of them on the forums. A lot).

Valve changed the library UI and added some highly requested features because of several years of userbase requests, feedback, and testing.
They've been researching this for years, been talking about changing it for 10+ years now, they're not just changing the layout because of a handful of people that wanted it, this wasn't a decision made on a whim.
Steam has over one billion users, they want to appeal to as many as possible, they know what they're doing, it's just that you can't please everyone, it's impossible, so they had to target the majority.

People that don't like the new UI have a really hard time accepting that they are in the minority for some reason which I just don't get. There's nothing wrong with being in the minority.

It's okay to like it and it's also okay to dislike it.
It's a matter of personal preference.

Sorry, I admit I didn't read the rest of the thread. You can sorta do this on GOG Galaxy. Go to the option where the button is like -o---

'Customize grid view' -> 'Size'. Or you can always go to the list 'format. As far as the art, I'm afraid there's not much either GOG or Steam can do something about it. You can change them manually and there a LOT of online options available for that, for various sizes.

EDIT: Let's cool down people. As long as people are on GOG Galaxy, they are as free as any to ask for any feature, be it the Steam or B.Net. I know some recent beta invitees are a bit... pushy... but let's be cool.
