The most disappointing thing to me so far for Galaxy 2.0 is that the Grid View is this weird Vertical format. I'm sure people like that. But I don't.

Most importantly, I already have 500+ games on Steam with customized Grid Icons that I made myself or have used from other people on the internet. (Thanks to places like Steambanners.booru.org and way back in the day NeoGaF).
Having to go through an recustomize 500+ games by hand is an insane amount of tedious work. Steam already stores all of your customized icons locally in your user folder by gameID all in one folder. It'd be awesome if Galaxy 2.0 could just scrape this directory and match the icons to the gameIDs and mirror it for Galaxy 2.0 if it had proper 460x215 horizontal icon support.

To be clear I just want another option to have a sort of unified standard. Up until this point no other major Client supported Cusomized Grid Icons to my knowledge and there is already a massive collection of images on the internet on places like SteamBanners for just about every game you can think of. (Not just Steam games even).

I've also read that there is a limit to only customizing only 500 icons too? That seems like an odd limit.

New Steam library is going to use vertical format. You can apply for Steam beta client and see for yourself.

This is true, but likewise it looks just as terrible as there is no true grid view any more(Image size is now stuck behind several menus instead of just a slider. Big regression) and BPM in the new Steam Beta still uses the old 460x215.
Valve likewise doesn't tell the user in the client when setting custom artwork what the standard resolution/ratio is either.
At least Galaxy 2.0 does.

Either way though, GoG and Steam are either going to force me to use BPM (Ugh) or use a 3rd party manager like Playnite that supports and respects the icons I have spent almost a decade gathering that have *Nothing* wrong with them and are being forced out arbitrarily.

It's honestly a deal breaker. I've been excited for Galaxy 2.0 because they have touted all this user customization. But there is no theming support, and it only supports one arbitrary icon format. And Steam's new beta is clunky and is doing much the same thing.

Galaxy 2.0 doesn't even follow it's own sizing standard and can't display icons at 1:1 proper scale. So they end up filtered and slightly blurry.

I also want horizontal as that gives larger more natural picture to view name of the game.. the vertical my eyes feel like they are scrunching to try to read the game title in such a narrow field of vision.

I HATE VERTICAL!
