I want to deeply thank "rijsd052" and "mr.andersson" for their intensely useful help. Who would have thought uninstalling a program would not also delete the registry entry? Just lost my entire gaming drive (luckily my Windows 10 64-bit is installed on my working SSD so I did not have to buy a new copy of Windows) and my mobile (which stopped charging at all despite me plugging into different ports and also cleaning it out - it even had the "0%" charging window on it even when it was not plugged in!) in the space of a few days. There are very few things you can't solve yourself by doing a few Qwant.com or DuckDuckGo.com or other search engine queries on the internet. I AM putting this thread AS MY FAVOURITE Topic! Thanks All! YAY!!! :)

rijsd052: I found a solution / workaround

Since my game drive went bust i had to reinstall the GOG client, but got the same error.

But windows still had the installation registered.
Cleaning up my register did not work and uninstalling the program in windows also gave a error.

So i removed it with Ccleaner
in ccleaner got to Tools > uninstall
Now select the gog launcer and select delete ( uninstall does nothing)

After that i could install the gog client with the option to choose a location.

Because i used this method all my settings in the gog launcer remained how they where
Thank you! This is what worked for me as well.
