1. Turn OFF save sync in the game's configure/features
2. In the same place tick custom executables
3. Add some custom executable, set it to default
4. Hit "play" in the game's screen
5. Saves are still synced contrary to the game's setting

Ok, thanks. I did. They did not make it easy with this new useless chat interface.

I guess you figured it out already, but if anyone else is wondering, saying the issue is of type "other" twice skips to creating a support ticket.

Last I checked, the chatbot doesn't know what GOG Galaxy is. The fact that they got rid of the bug tracker because they weren't reading the reports doesn't inspire confidence either.

Yeah, it kept asking me about a game title and after it couldn't understand my answer twice (something like: the bug is generic, not game specific) it fell back to offering me an option to open the regular support ticket.

I'm amazed they decided that putting this piece of @#$% was a good idea to improve user experience when asking for support.

1 its not a bug but by design i.e, Gog used copy / paste code

to be clear step 3 of your list isn't needed i.e, it doesn't have to be a custom executable and ANY exe [even the exact same one] being set as default also sets sync [because that is the default]

thanks for report it again... perhaps they will make a note but i wouldn't count on it

Yes the robot at support is correct that this is a general GALAXY issue not a game one

Yes the Gog support system is a total waist of time... at this point every on the forum knows reporting bugs is pointless

p.s, the way to work around it is to not use alt exe but instead list the game as a new 'imported' game [just pick some bullshit] then link the exe... yes i know thats silly but if you really need to remove sync then that will do it

I'm sorry, but what is by design? That they have an option that doesn't work properly? How is that by design?
And step 3 is required. Without that step the option to turn OFF sync works properly. Saves are not synced. Only when you use a custom executable this option is not respected.

I have a feeling you misunderstood my post.

It wasn't the robot saying, it was me. Please re-read my posts carefully cause I have a feeling you don't understand what is going on here.

a bug = some unexpected happens

by design = the code says do this and thats what it does

the fact users think that thing it does is dum doesn't make it a bug it just means its badly designed

step 3 of your list "custom executable" can be changed to any executable i.e, it doesn't have to be " custom " and you could just link the same game executable as you have in the first option to get the sync result because Galaxy assumes sync on any extra opotions and only checks if the sync box is ticked when you use the main .... again thats by design

While it is good to educate people about the difference, one should always remind them also that it is better to report something as a bug to the developers than immediately start accusing them of bad design, as that can be saved for the occasions where the developers actually try to deny there being any problem with their design rather than start fixing it.

Your definition is completely wrong. The program always does what the code says. Processors don't have a mind of their own.

By design means that the developers wanted something to behave in a specific way.
Bug is when it doesn't.

And I really doubt developers meant for the "turn OFF cloud sync" to work ONLY for the main game executable.

yes its been reported at least twice, once by me and now again by the OP... this is not a new issue
