I just wrote out a nice review for a game that I just finished and was told that my review was too long and that I need to shorten it. Nowhere can I find anything about a character limit for reviews. It would be immensely helpful if while writing a review we could have a character count with the limit so that we know when we need to stop.

For the record, what is the character limit of game reviews?

Supposedly 1200, or 1500 depending on who you ask.

If you were able to save it, you could probably post something longer in the game-specific forum and then post an abridged version via review.

Character limit is currently 1500 including spaces.


EDIT: There's gotta be some kind of a ninja school around here, I get ninja'd every day on these here boards...

My review was 2650 characters. 1500 seems arbitrarily small.

It is way too small for a detailed review, all you can do is hope they change it. awalterj posted two good links to vote to have limits changed and amount of characters shown.

If you have MS Word you can draft up your review there, you can click on 'Extras' and then 'Count words', that way you can check if you're under the limit. Just keep in mind that empty spaces count, too.
