You know that this is the internet. If a child wants to see the most kinky and weirdest shit that even surpasses my imagination (and that is very vivid) it is literally only five clicks away. No, those parental locks won't work.

So could we please stop the discussion about this and get back on the topic?

As long as we refrain from posting anything extreme (depending on point of view), or anything illegal for that matter, I really don't see the big problem here.

I understand that some minors as well as adults might be more or less sensitive to this topic, however I don't see this as a good enough reason to avoid it altogether in a general discussion forum. I personally find good sex to be one of the very best and most rewarding activities life has to offer, and I wish I had learned even more about it as a kid.

That being said, I realise that this issue has more sides to it and that it might be problematic to some people, but I think we'll be alright as long as we keep in mind that we are speaking in front of a mixed audience (attending of its own free will).

Back on topic:

Several favourites, hard to pick one in particular. I like being on top doing a good deal of the "work."

In my mind: I'm usually stoked to be going from behind and feeling libidinous (especially if I can manage to sync up with the beat of the music playing). However,

In reality one of two things usually happens:
a) Me: POUND! POUND! ......

or

b) Me: POUND! times a bunch then I just get too tuckered to finish.

Navagon: Totally agree. Parental responsibility and all that. But this is a gaming forum it's a bit much to expect a parent to predict sexual content here. While there may be many "fucking cunt" comments posted here, that's usually just as an expletive, not a sexual comment.
It's equally hard for parents to predict that the forum may contain people preaching extreme religious viewpoints, which I find potentially much more damaging to children, and yet I've never seen a "think of the children" argument in one of the threads on religion.

And I fail to see how "he's a fucking cunt" is perfectly acceptable while "he's fucking a cunt" is not.

Look at it this way: Anyone with a GOG account can buy Postal 2. Compared to that, a few lines of text mentioning the human private parts that we all have can hardly be considered damaging to anyone.

GOG sells Duke Nukem 3D. And Postal 1 and 2. Anyone who might feel offended by such subjects can just avoid this thread, the same way they can avoid said games.

A very fair point indeed. Perhaps that's an entirely separate argument though. And a far more serious one. As I'm not really sure where that's supposed to leave us. Does that mean that the forums should have an equally 'anything goes' policy?

Then again my original argument was that this forums' content should be at least somewhat appropriate for those that are likely to be using them. In light of GOG's lack of age restrictions it's difficult to maintain that the forums should succeed where GOG does not. So while I might not particularly want this to become another anarchistic board, the ball is ultimately in GOG's court on that one.

As for damaging religious extremists, usually they're torn apart pretty quickly. If others don't get in there first, I certainly will. There won't be much left for a kid to be influenced by.

I know growing up, anything sex related was taboo - guessing it was due to the religiousness. Though, having an older brother getting old raunchy movies (not porn but kinda close) can do things to a kid as I watched having no clue what was around the corner.

Now I'm a little wiser on that. Can't always keep things from kids at all. I do let my kids play games with sexual content to a point. Like my 11 goin on 12 yr old ( even my 9 going on 10 yr old too) is allowed to play Saints row 3 and he loves to beat people with the Penetrator. They know a bit of the birds and bees and I've signed them off to have a sex thing at school that deals with some stuff that is age appropriate. A little older, and I will have that talk with them since their father is an idiot. My family has become a bit of perverts themselves due to my hubby in the picture now lol.

Anyway, on topic, my hubby is random in our encounters. He tries to spice it up for me since my ex killed off my libido yrs ago before meeting my sex-crazed hubby. Makes for an interesting sex life!

Well, regarding Postal 2, I find its presence in the GOG catalog entirely appropriate, but as you say, that's another discussion.

As to what goes on the forum... Well, the forum is public. You don't even have to be logged into a GOG account to read it. In theory that means that a forward 6-year-old might well be reading some of the stuff that goes on here. Does that mean that the rest of us should restrict our discussions to topics such as teddy bears, cartoons and action figures? Of course not.

On the other hand, the posting of such explicit materials as hardcore pornographic pictures is certainly going too far in the other direction.

As usual, the topic isn't black and white, but a sliding scale of shades of grey. Different people have different views as to where the limit is, and in the absence of clear-cut rules, imposed and enforced from above (meaning from GOG itself), sticking to boundaries that everyone can agree on is an impossibility.

However, I'd like to make a few points of my own:

1. Due to the nature of GOG, this forum has a higher average age than most other forums on the internet.

2. The people here come from all over the world, and from all walks of life. This is fertile ground for interesting discussions with many different insights and viewpoints.

3. The forum is predominantly self-policed. This gives us a freedom of discussion not found in many other places.

Given those three things, I then ask the question: where can I, as an adult, have a mature discussion about sex with other adults, if not here?

The only two obvious alternatives I can think of are porn sites and dating sites, and I have no desire to join either kind. It also brings up the question of whether a forum should be restricted to the single topic central to its existence. As I see it, if porn and dating sites are the only places one can discuss sex, then every thread here that is not about old games ought to be locked.

I don't think they should be, of course. If I had to find a specific forum for each topic I'd care to discuss, I wouldn't discuss very much ever. When I go shopping, I don't have to go to separate stores to get milk and toilet paper either.

I think one of the reasons that the GOG community is so vibrant and attracts so many people is precisely because of the great variety of topics discussed here. Conversely, I doubt that the number of people who deliberately stay away from here because they simply can't handle any sort of discussion of controversial topics is very large. And however many of them there are, I have to say good riddance.
