Ambient / atmospheric.
The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls with Sand
Summoning - Where Hope and Daylight Die

j-pop / j-rock - listening to another country's music is interesting, the vocals are still there, but because you don't understand the words it's almost like listening to an instrumental song, there's more space for mood, feel and interpretation to come into play. Could list dozens of these but will narrow it down.
Attack on Titan OST (Linked Horizon - Jiyuu no Tsubasa)
Kannagi OST (Haruka Tomatsu - Musuhi Toki)
Loveless ending (Michiyuki - Kaori Hikita)

country - things like Bob Dylan and John Denver.

jazzy things - I don't know much about the jazz genre, so I can't really say I like jazz as such, but I love Jazzy songs.
Ghost in the Shell 2 OST (Kimiko Itoh - Follow Me)
Ariana Grande - Problem

This is where I find it harder to categorise things.

Mysterious / soulful stuff (big mystery lover).
Berserk OST (Forces 2)
Ico OST (Steven Geraghty - You Were There)
Spice and Wolf OST (Natsumi Kiyoura - Tabi no Tochuu)

This kind of stuff and strong female vocals:
Metal Gear Solid OST (Aoife Ní Fhearraigh - The Best is Yet to Come)
Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker OST (Donna Burke - Heaven's Divide)
Metal Gear Solid OST (Natasha Farrow - Calling to the Night)

Sorry guys, apparently I'm not allowed to post links.

Thrash Metal...Slayer, Pre-Black Album Metallica, Megadeth, etc.

British Metal...Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, etc.

I just love the guitar work, the subject matter of the lyrics, and Iron Maiden has great vocals over top of all that. If I could mix two bands together it would be introducing the vocals of Maiden to the guitars and double bass drum of Slayer. Even though, I really like(d) Tom Araya's vocals in the earlier albums.
