I was excited to see these classics pop up here as running the old disc versions without a period machine is near impossible (if not completely). After I installed the games I was mildly disappointed to find that they only support the standard VGA 320 pixel resolution, running in windowed mode kinda helps, but also makes the game view so small I find myself squinting to make out my target of what seems to be 3 or 4 pixels moving around each other like a tiny multicolored amoeba.

Viewing the DOSbox settings I found the VGA card that it is set to is the problem, and I know my semi-new quadcore processor is capable of handling the ridiculously simple graphics for this 20 year old program, but perhaps it is the compatibility of newer OS running old programs like this through DOSbox that is the problem.

So my question is this. Are there any plans on improving this singular compatibility issue? I understand that if DOSbox does not support the platform on which SVGA runs there is not much we can do until they decide to add such programming. Would appreciate a clarification, or in a best case scenario, a solution to upping the res for one of my favorite games from the 90's.

When you buy the game on GOG, you get both the DOS 320p version and the Windows 640x480 version. In the second version, the options will let you choose the hardware 3D, that about as far as you'll be able to go. Unless they release XWING Alliance that is...
