StingingVelvet: Wow, Rift is the same exact game as this.
I played Rift at PAX, it looked nice but yeah, so very WOW based.

Can't be bothered. I'm avoiding all MMOs till SWTOR comes out or whatever new MMO that my friends go to, if that ever happens. If TOR tanks, I'll just play WoW on and off or quit MMOs entirely.

KavazovAngel: Its awesome if you have a group / guild. :p
You mean awesome BG zergs, lowbie ganking (so they can't fight back for sure) or arena elitists?
WoW PvP sucks hard. In fact, it never was any good.

orcishgamer: WOW twink (pre-level cap) pvp has always been different, and actually better if you're willing to create a pvp only twink.

EDIT: Not level 19 bracket, that one sucks. 49 and 59 were the good ones back in the day (I think DKs ruined 59, not sure).
Twinking, no thanks.
Before BGs started to award XP, twinks were dominating all those lower lvl brackets and it was no fun at all. After that twinks started QQing about how is it for them broken, since they cannot stay in one bracket forever. When people replied that now they cannot one-shot anyone anymore all the time, twinks replied that "they just want to fight other twinks" and that them are many, so Blizz could give them their own BGs. So Blizzard introduced XP lock and then twinks started QQing that waiting times for BGs are horrible (why? They told there are many twinks, there must be something wrong....). So much for the noble "we just want to fight other twinks".

All those crying, obnoxious folks were from 19 and 29, which took very little actual work and a lot of gold to make. Level 49 and 59 (except for DKs) have to spend months hunting for their ideal gear, it's a far different attitude. I wasn't there by the time XP lock was introduced so I don't know how that works. I can tell you my most fun games were versus the people I knew could hand my ass to me if I screwed up (and might anyway). I know they all groaned when they saw me on the roster, but secretly enjoyed fighting me. Pre-armory they knew every piece of gear I had by sight and when I changed anything, we all knew that. We had a guild twink guild and so did they. We had a lot of hangers on that hung around just to hit rank 11 or something, they eventually moved on, but they still all worked on their toons like crazy.

If there was no one decent to fight sometimes I would just win the BG for all the regular levelers in game (who all had gear 15 levels too low for them) or I'd go find an opposing rogue and /sit so he would attack me and then kill him, rinse, repeat (I was a lock, they couldn't resist).

I did make a 19 twink at one point during TBC to play around for a week or two, I really didn't think that bracket compared in any way.

Basically people with XP lock and people without XP lock have different BGs. If you want to twink in, say, bracket 20-29, you have to lock your XP on lvl 29 and then you will play *ONLY* with people who locked their XP too (and are in the same bracket, obviously).

So if you are leveling your character and want to do a few BGs just for fun, you will never meet any XP-locked character there and vice versa.

Since most twink crap isn't soulbound I'm not sure how this helps (since leveling a 19 twink is braindead easy). I don't know, does it actually make it better? Classes are so unbalanced pvp-wise at that level I would think certain classes would not have any fun anyway.

Like I said, I wrote all those brackets off anyway, 39 was the first good one. I heard all the whining back in the day and wrote it off, it's not like it takes much to level out of the stupid brackets and start doing BGs not filled with gold-laced twinks (though there might still be twinks, they are of the effort variety).
Bah, best PvP was and always will be in Vanilla 2006.

Anyone remember Zalgradis? A mighty skilled Prot Paly, damn entertaining video too.

There are lots of others, including a Korean feral druid and a Rogue who kills with grey weapons. But my favourite is definitely Zalgradis.

This is one of my favourite druids pvp videos:
