doady: So you don't like him because he is fat, has a British accent, and acts full of himself in an obvious over-the-top way as a joke? Who is the complete douchebag?
It's double-meta. He is acting like a douchebag (0); he is acting like a douchebag (1); behind all of this I sense a man who is enjoying the act (2), as his hands are clean.
I was not only tipped off by the condescending tone of the video in general, I was put off the most by the implicit assumption that this would entertain me, be something I would find insightful, funny perhaps. I got his irony perfectly - I have not perceived the guy as narrow-minded. I perceive him as not having nearly enough respect for his viewers' intellect.
Perhaps I'm not the intended sort of target for this show ?

I may, of course, be misjudging and this may be an intricate tripple-meta sort of thing that went over my head. I do not know. In my defense - I was being very honest: I said I didn't like him and explained why.

Oh - the British accent is what I find quaint, cute and sometimes endearing... but mostly plain funny. This was completely not an issue here - there are other nonverbal things about his voice which I found grating.

jefequeso: I perceive you as a very bizarre person who nevertheless usually has something intelligent to say :P
Well... I was born the former and have been working on the latter ever since ;P.
I've always heard people say he is a terrible reviewer, I've never watched any of his crap until now.

The fact that his opening has "Truth" then "Garme Jurnalizm" in big white text speaks a million words to me. I'm actually embarrassed for him and the fact I gave that review 1 view.

I'd like to choke him for that god awful...thing I just watched but I don't think my hands could get round his fat neck.
People pay attention to Jim Sterling?

I avoid Destructoid because of exactly him.

I'm sure on occasion he writes things that are somewhat worthwhile, but I would much rather read elsewhere than sift through the garbage piles and pandering to big money games.

I remember one of his reviews discussing Witcher 2 as mediocre?
Was he the one who caused a bunch of people to throw tantrums because he didn't like Heavy Rain? That was kind of funny. He seems kind of intolerable seen live, though.
The thing is that Jim is satire, and a lot of people seem to miss that. He's supposed to come off as a condescending douche bag that doesn't understand what the hell he's talking about, his poor content comes from when there's a lack of sense to whether or not he's being satirical. Like his Jimquisition episodes on GamerGate. This is exactly why his leaving The Escapist, regardless of the reasoning, confuses me. He apparently left because The Escapist uncensored the GamerGate discussion and took an official neutral stance on the matter. Idk, to be a bit off topic for a tiny bit, I'm pretty sick of politics being involved in the whole thing, and I mean politics politics, not gaming or journalism politics. I've noticed a lot of liberals and conservatives on each respective side arguing about GG that otherwise wouldn't be discussing it. Getting back on Jim, why would he of all people let that bullshit perpetuate? The exact problem with both sides of the argument right now is the fact that people who have never touched so much as the glass protecting the AAA titles at Wal Mart are discussing it, why leave a company because they take a neutral stance to that bullshit?
Holy F$%^ing Necro Batman!!!

And wow I never thought that two years later I end up buying RE 6 for a cheap price of 15 bucks (along with Revelations)
just to complete my RE collection that are canon with each other.

People it takes an industrial machine to take him from the outside world that he has not interacted with since a decade to his ejacularium, he doesn't excel at the "perspective" attribute

Jim Sterling is now one of the only video game personalities I actually like, so it was kind of funny to click this thread without realizing that it was a necro, and see that I apparently wrote this.
