Navagon: This is through Apple Store, for their closed platforms. That's no different to any of the big three console manufacturers making the same mistake.

orcishgamer: Yeah the greedy cash in douchebags have been all over the iOS app store for years, now they're on the Mac app store, it seems to have more to do with the venue and the perception that there's easy money to be made than the fact that Wolfire opensourced their engine.
True, this kind of thing happens all the time.

I hope so, it's their responsibility to check the party submitting the app has the necessary licences/ownership.

People have been sabre rattling in Apple's direction for years over this and other issues. The problem is, a lot of the unhappy people would still be killing the goose that laid the golden egg, so it hasn't happened yet.

cogadh: You seem to be "trolling for trolls", as it were.
It's the latest trend. Well. I say latest, but it's seriously getting old already.

cogadh:
That's exactly what they should do, and I hope they win. No, that's not anti-Apple bullshit. That's anti-blind-corporate-money-farming bullshit. If Apple want a store then they bloody well got to staff the fucking thing like everyone else.

drmlessgames: Yes, but is it the only source? They placed the assets in the source release. id software doesnt put their game's data in their source releases. They, wolfire, too said that the assets were free to share but not to resale. In that case, icoder could sell their $2 port, and then offer instructions on how to obtain the free to share assets. I think Wolfire blundered by not putting the game assets clearly in a specific license. "Here's the assets, but don't sell 'em , bye" is not a proper license.
Oh, if that's the case that there are people that are allowed to distribute the other bits of the game without violating the license then I see your point. I didn't remember hearing anything to indicate that I could redistribute those portions of the game. And such a provision strikes me as odd.
