Are they using Wine in order to get a working Linux version? I'm a quite practical, I don't really mind how it's done as long as it's working, and I understand that relying on some kind of emu/wrapper/whatever could be a faster and cheaper way to get the goal, but I was actually assuming it was going to be a proper port.

If I remember correctly it uses eOn , which is also a wrapper for the Windows version.

shmerl: GOG doesn't sell beta games. Witcher 2 for Linux is still in beta. You can of course ask GOG to open beta program, same way as Steam does.

For updates, see https://github.com/KillaW0lf04/The-Witcher-2-Issues/#announcements

Also, vote here please.

TheJoe: It's actually not in beta, but it has many issues because it's a really terrible port (it's actually just a Wine-like thing). GOG are holding off on releasing it until the issues get ironed out, I believe.
No, it is in beta. I already provided a link above which you quoted yourself. You can open it and check out the details.

The initial port which was released wasn't even beta. Close to alpha quality really.

There is a beta branch, but the port itself is released and available to all as-is.

As is, in alpha quality. Beta branch versions are even better. So as above, GOG doesn't sell beta games, let alone alpha ones.

I have no faith it'll ever be better than alpha quality :P
