Jandalman: Since this epic looking game is not out yet I decided to post this topic under general discussion.

So yeah the trailers (gameplay or otherwise) of The Witcher 3 looks bloody amazing and this has led me to the frightening thought, "Can my current pc rig handle this game on high or (hopefully) ultra graphical settings?"

I am itching to purchase the preorder from GOG.com to support Project CD Red and get the exclusive goodies, but it'd be a major waste of my already limited cash to buy a game only to find out upon it's release that I can't play the game in all it's glory.

My current rig is an i7 Quadcore with a single GTX 770 2G graphics card and 16 GB of ram. I'm not an expert on technical stuff, but so far this rig is running smooth as butter for me.

What are your speculations on the hardware needed for running this game?
The 750Ti 2GB card was outperforming XBONE on a decent system w/ Titanfall, so I'd imagine that will be at least enough to run it at pretty good system settings.

I'd imagine the newer set of nVidia cards (GTX 550+) would likely be requirements.

P.S. I dont' know about RAM, but I can imagine it may need some extra beef. I've only got a 32-bit system. I hope it's good enough.

timppu: I recall how miffed I was that my PC, which I thought was still pretty powerful at the time, had hard time trying to run Magic Carpet and System Shock in hires (640x400/480). I think it barely ran them in hires (10-15 fps or so, just guessing), but for smooth gameplay, I really needed to run them in low resolution.

Nice thing though those games had hires modes (even if it made many PCs back then "obsolete"), as now I can play both in hires with smooth as glass gameplay, even running in DOSBox.

In ten years, I will be playing The Witcher 3 with all bells and whistles (all the fur showing, even the hair on the protagonist's armpits), and not even breaking sweat. It will be worth it.
This is pretty much what I think too. xD
Well, one thing we need to keep in mind is they have already said the recent Xbox demo was running
@ 30fps 1600 x 900 high graphics settings.

With our PC specs and anyone with similar or above, I see no reason to not be able to achieve that quality and much more. Otherwise, we are talking a seriously bad optimized game. I have no reason to believe this will happen. I trust CDPR. They are PC devs first and foremost.

I think with the nVidia hairworks tech. and running ultra, then yeah. it's gonna be pretty taxing. This is why I suggest grabbing a cheaper 6 series card for dedicated physX since we know the game will utilize it. It is a cheaper alternative at least to going SLI or buying a single expensive card. Surely if you are in a position to go SLI or buy a powerful single Maxwell or say 780/ti, then go for it.

This is probably my most anticipated game right now. Witcher 3 and the next Fallout game :)
Much more interested in OS requirements, as these are the roots, from which hardware choices grow.
Heard rumors, that no XP expected, Win7 only. If anyone heard something, please advice.

Well, since XP isn't supported officially anymore by Microsoft, I guess that's probably true. I've just preoredered this week, let's hope my gtx 460m will cope with it using at least decent settings.
I'm hoping they allow for some neat customization regarding view distance and the whole "no loading"-feature as I rather want 60FPS but I'll have to wait a couple of seconds every time I leave or enter a certain area than no waiting but 30FPS or mini-stutters whenever I play as that usually pushes me closer to insanity.

Anyway, with a Core i7 and a GTX770 I think you'll be quite fine. Don't expect to run with Ubersampling-types of features but they usually suck anyway with horrible performance/IQ ratio.

As for OS support I would be very surprised if it's officially supported by XP, it's possible you might be able to do some heavy tweaking to get it running but that will likely cost you a lot of time and energy that would have been put to better use like finding work extra to earn the extra cash necessary to purchase a modern computer.
