does anyone know if the pre-order on GOG contains a physical map or just digital? I desperately want to pre-order here but I love me them physical maps; before I got bored of Skyrim I loved having the map above my monitor. it helped with immersion and was just fun to draw stuff on it and make little notations here and there (like in the olden days of gaming). by the time, I'd finished, it was a really neat physical copy of where I'd been and what I'd done.

I know the preorder at Amazon includes a physical map but I'm keen to avoid Steamworks!

c'mon, GOG!

GOG sells exclusively digital stuff, so no physical map here.

The retail version, however, will not be tied to Steamworks and will be completely DRM-Free.

lol, I actually think it's kind of cool that someone still does that. I remember looking through old PC games of mine and seeing notes and codes written in the "Notes" section in the back, and thinking "Oh my God!!! I wrote in this?"

Everybody (including myself) has turned into OCD babies about their toys over time, lol.

haha, so true. i don't do it with every game, just those with particularly immersive aspects that you might sink a good few weeks into.

i think especially now, with everything approaching total digitalisation, the physical takes on greater meaning and we owe it to ourselves to defile our own items! i haven't seen a decent manual with a boxed game in years, but of course they do do exist, just not like they used to. i remember the original manual that came with Baldurs Gate 1; it was huge; the kind of tome that now sell for like 10-20 bucks shortly after a game has come out. not complaining either way because the internet means you can get hold of the information as and when, but games, like records, have lost a little something as a result. they're no longer as personal.
