Navagon: Then why not get them both retail? The Enhanced Edition of the Witcher is so packed full of extras that you almost have to buy the retail version anyway. It's DRM free now too. Which is quite likely to be the way that Witcher 2 goes too. Although we still don't have a confirmation on the DRM it's using right now.
1. Because I've never seen the game in stores. I'd probably have to order it online.

2. While feelies are very cool and all, I'd rather have the game cheaper.

3. I don't have an overwhelming interest in the game. I'd buy it if it came here, and might pick it up if I saw it in a store (see #1), but actually ordering a physical copy is probably more than I'd bother to do. Especially since I don't really have time to play RPGs. In other words, I'd mostly be getting it just to have it, and to support CDP.

Then Virama's suggestion is probably the best option for you too then.

It might be a bit late considering the pre-order has already started, but I still think it's a good enough idea that GOG/CDP should consider implementing it.

Indeed, it's a very good idea.

darthcobley: well would the whitcher 1 fall into just fall into the 9.99 bracket by next year ?

Navagon: The problem is that the Enhanced Edition (retail) can't be cheap to produce. I'm not sure how Much further they can cut the price down. It was a bargain when I bought it for £17. So $10 would just be crazy.

I suppose they could try and market the GOG version as a different version to the retail EE and hope that nobody complains...
I bought the retail EE for 10 euros. It's a bit more than 10$, of course, but still pretty cheap. And it was no special limited time offer or anything.
Considering non enhanced versions of The Witcher can be freely updated to the Enhanced version with a patch (albeit without the extra goodies, and the fact that sometimes the CD Projekt site download link doesn't work [and it is buried]) I could see them putting it up for one of GoG's price-points if they deemed it a good idea.

If they released it on GOG they would put up a completely patched version with all the extras in a digital format, which would mean that they would not have the cost of producing the physical extras to worry about anymore, so a $9.99 price point wouldn't be too unfeasible even with all the (digital) goodies.

However, I wouldn't expect them to do so until at least after Christmas, to let it have one last Christmas sale at the higher price points and to clear out the physical stock, plus with the impending release of the Witcher 2 I'm guessing they might also be waiting to see if people go rushing to buy the first one in order to prepare for the second (I think Mass Effect 1 sold quite well in the lead up to Mass Effect 2).
