To be quite honest, all you're doing is making them look like a bit of a twat. Which I'm sure is far from being the case. If you want to white knight then at least have the decency to do it while not hiding behind them. That just makes you more of a twat.

That said, I have said numerous times in the past that over-generousity breeds a sense of entitlement.

If you want to give to people then there is no shortage of charities out there. I doubt the recipients will have an over-inflated entitlement complex, and will of course be that much more in need of the money and what it brings them.

When they gave out "social IQ" I didn't even notice there was a line, and kind of missed out on that, so if you'll excuse my ignorance: What are you supposed to reply? "Thank you for thanking me"? And would it then be ill-mannered of them not to reply with a "Thank you for thanking me for thanking you"? I mean, if I gift someone a game they've really wanted to play for some time, I'd expect them to want to use every single baud on downloading that game rather than exchanging pleasantries with some dude on a forum?

(And, no, I usually don't reply to SMS'es unless they are formed as a (non-rethorical) question, either..)
