This question may have been addressed in the forum and I apologize if it has been.Are there any plans to release the expansions that followed wing commander 1 and 2?

Yes, this has been addressed many times. The expansions have been requested by a lot of users and GOG is trying to obtain the rights to offer them, but the legal situation seems to be rather complicated for undisclosed reasons. GOG has stated that due to the legal difficulties the expansions are unlikely to arrive here anytime soon.
