Hello everyone!

I was considering purchasing the Wing Commander games here and was wondering if anyone has purchased them and can relate to how them run on modern PC's.

I have a PC with an AMD A8-3800 cpu and don't want to games to be so fast they are unplayable.

Anyone have some advice?

The games sold here are specially tailored to run on modern PCs. Wing Commander uses DosBox. And all DosBox games run very solid and stable on modern machines.

So, GOGs running to fast is usually not a problem.

The Wing Commander forum would probably be the best place to check and ask :)
You probably know this already, but just in case, I would also wait until to Monday to buy them since that's when GOG's sale will start and there is an excellent chance they will be 50% off. :)

Sale?

What all will be 50% off? I could totally go for that.

Most if not the entire catalog of games on GOG. (Probably won't have The Witcher 2 as half off, as it's usually an exception to most things on the site)
I don't know if they've since been tweaked, but you may find yourself needing to modify the DOSBox configuration files and Wing Commander sound config, as the ones provided in the GOG installer were less than ideal.

Follow the instructions and advice in this thread and you'll be fine:

Other than that, as others have stated, wait for the 50% sale. There's no guarantee that ALL titles will be reduced, but it's certainly worth waiting :)
I can only tell you for sure about Privateer (yet!) and it ran fine. As far as I know, all dos games on gog come with dos box and preconfigured settings for it. And, with the exception of Master of Orion I, so far all worked fine for me. All you have to do is click on the desktop icon.
