I *LOVED* Wing Commander 3 and 4-still have my giant boxes of both!

I'm wondering...can you play the GOG release without a joystick, I mean does that work okay? I don't even HAVE a joystick that works anymore with my notebook, so I don't know if this one's somehow been tweaked to work with a moue and keyboard, or even an Xbox controller or something?

I'm thinking of buying this, and that would completely tip me towards going for it! :)

And regarding the game...I still think 3 and 4 are the pinnacle of the straight space combat sim (I mean not counting stuff like Privateer that has tons of extra, awesome elements to it...speaking of which, I never owned Privateer 2, so I hope that comes...)

I never got my copy of 3 to work on account of not having a hard drive in my computer when I got it, but if it plays anything like Privateer, you should be perfectly fine with just a keyboard.

Oh, okay, thanks! I think I'll go for it (heh...maybe I'll stick my GOG copy in with the physical copy I bought in the 90's :-D )

Played that in ps1 long time ago so I don't know how the controls are in pc.

Can you use an Xbox controller? That would be awesome. I know there are a lot of mods out there for old space shooters that gets them to work with modern controllers.

Wing Commander 2 had full mouse support. I assume WC3 does too, but I can't confirm.

As long as Windows can see a device as a joystick, Dosbox should be able to use it in any game. I looked up mouse to joystick and couldn't find much. These looked the most promising.
