gameon: Yeah, i much prefer normal books to digital versions. The last few books i read were the first two Tom Clancy novels. I really enjoyed reading through "Without Remorse".
Without Remorse is my favorite book in the whole Ryan-verse series. The character of John Clark has all the best parts of many of my other soldier/spy characters; Paul Kersey, John J Rambo, Jack Bauer. It's such a great "Origin Story" for a character that is intertwined in the series. The other very Clark centric book, Rainbow Six, is also very good. But it comes much later in the series and if you hadn't read the books that come before it you might not quite understand how a CIA assassin gained enough clout with the President to be given the position as head of Rainbow. The only thing I don't like about the Ryan-verse books is that there aren't more of them. I have been looking for another series like them to read but haven't had much luck. I read The Last Jihad by Joel Rosenberg because it was recommended on some website I can't remember for Tom Clancy fans, I found it very dull and the writing style fairly simple and dry. I did not continue that series. I also read The Kill Artist by Daniel Silva and it was much more interesting, It is the first in the Gabriel Allon series. I'm now trying to decide if I want to continue with that series or start reading the OP Center books as I have previously skipped those.

As far a eBook verses Book Book, I am kinda warming up to the eBook trend since I can read them on my phone. I like the idea that I can carry around several books in my pocket and read them while on the bus or waiting in line somewhere. I have not been brave enough to actually buy any eBooks so I have just been reading a lot of classics that way. Currently I'm reading Crime & Punishment.

Yeah the bits when he was (SPOILERS) dressed up like a hobo was awesome. Not to mention his boating adventures etc etc.

Red Storm Rising is also an interesting novel. And that was a stand alone book.

I think the interrogation scene was one of the best from any book, movie or TV show. Especially how it shows how he feels and his inner thoughts after what he has done.

Red Storm Rising was my first Clancy book, it absolutley terrified me in how plausible it made WW3 happen. I have reread it several times.

At first i thought to myself "what interrogation scene"....then i remembered THAT scene. Epic. I think it involved a high pressure room?
Not entering, but +1 for the giveaway!

A classic book (even if you don't like history in general or Ancient Egypt in particular): The Egyptian by Mika Waltari. (Don't worry, the Wiki article doesn't have spoilers - well, at least everything it say is known history).

Unlike opportunistic bestsellers usually published about Ancient Egypt today, both the plot and narrative are superb (set in one of the most turbulent periods of this civilization) and make you understand the culture not only of Egypt but of the other surrounding countries as well as power relations between them, through a human character (in every sense of the word, with his limitations, his betrayals, his good intentions, his successes and failures over a lifetime).

NOTE: Saturday is your birthday? I sent the box just in time... :D
