It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

Basically, computer of my wife (win7 64bit home edition) refuses to launch most applications using .NET framework, in this case she was trying to launch LOTRO and it kept crashing at launch screen, saying that .NET framework 1.1.4 is missing. I have tries .NET framework 1.1 64bit installer, refused to install. I have also tried repairing it via .NET framework 4.0, but that didn't help at all.

So, anyone knows what the heck is going on? I was thinking about trying to install microsoft visual studio, maybe it'll force installation of those components, but other than that, I have no clue.

What error did you get when you tried this?

Internal error 2908, still, the installer is not really for Win7 since it should have .NET 1.1 ever since SP1, which she does have of course
Maybe try this (pasta from mydigitallife)
Make sure you have right clicked the game icon, clicked Properties, clicked the Compatibility tab and check-marked "Run this program as an administrator." You have probably already done this but I thought I would mention it . . . =)

I install all my games in a folder outside of Program Files as UAC can block some disk reads / writes for some programs. Also, make sure you are installing as an admin by right clicking the setup.exe and clicking "Run as an administrator" on the resulting dialog.
I don't know if this would help but... Just try running windows update (checking for new updates) and if there is any updates, install them... Windows generally tends to fix itself with every minute update.
.NET Framework 1.x is not supported for Windows 7. It is possible to force it to install anyway but you should not need to do so.

Are you sure you are using the latest version of the LOTRO client? If you installed from a disc or existing download try downloading the latest version from their website to see if that makes a difference (uninstalling the current version first).

Downloaded directly from LOTRO website, it specifically complains about missing ".NET 1.1"
