xa_chan: Don't worry, TESNexus already provided me with a nice set of mods for Morrowind, including of course the two you wrote about. Plus i've tried (meaning : just got out of the boat and in the small village where you start the game) several world texture pack and climate mods that look yummy. The thing is that, in fact, I have to reinstall everything on Win 7 and with my backloggery, I'm a little lazy... ^_^
El_Double: I wouldn't recommend using a texture pack because it'll change the whole visual experience, which is, IMO, very good as it is. I've tried two comprehensive high-res texture packs but they both changed the overall visual style so drastically that I removed them. Using them is up to you, of course, but if you want something to boost the visuals I'd recommend using MGE instead of the texture packs, it makes the game look incredible without changing the original look that much. But, whatever it is you decide to do, I doubt you'll manage to do something that prevents you from enjoying the game :)
I agree, your first playthrough should be almost completely vanilla, but if you insist on a texture pack, I recommend Connary's textures because he tries to keep the "dark" feeling of the original game.
