Well, rape is quite a hard and tasteless word, but I have to admit I felt kind of abused by NWN's storytelling. ;)

I mean, the way my character was exploited as the NPCs' lackey without giving me any real option to influence what was going on around me. Granted, most other RPGs don't really give you that much choice either, but I thought it was a weird combination, using a non-descript character as the "hero" of a rigidly fixed story that revolves around other people's lives and confines the player character to the role of watcher and executor of the NPCs' agendas without him or her being personally involved. :/

You mean by how horrendously bad it was? ;)

niniendowarrior: What I normally advise for beginners who want to get a head start on NWN is to start a character from Hordes of the Underdark then reimport it into the original campaign. It's actually a pretty massive head start, (especially if you generate a monk) but I think it kind of eases the player into the game.
It would be borderline gamebreaking, as you would be incredibly powerful, and the game would offer no challenge what so ever. A better choice would probably be to do some character optimization. Reading a guide on how to best optimize your starting stats for each class would probably be enough to make the game really easy.
What you need to do at the beginning of the game, is to look for an ally that will be a supplement to your character. If your character is weak in close combat , hire a warrior, if you need some spells - hire a mage/cleric.

The best NPC companion in base game is that bard chick, I think.

Best NPC and Bard are two things I never thought I'd see together in a D&D-related sentence. Not that I have anything against Bards, but they're generally not considered best at anything.

Yeah, as explained above, the way the story is told isn't really motivating, but the story itself is pretty stupid, too. It's quite wordy for a hack and slash game, but there isn't that much substance to the main plot. It's a good thing there are so many better modules out there, so NWN doesn't have to be judged by its official campaign alone. :)

Yeah, it works only in NWN game :D

Bard gives you great buff all the time, and she's pretty good in combat with her two sided sword too, or whatever that is ;P

Deekin is awesome as a companion, too! (kobold bard)

I think the Red Dragon Disciple prestige class is part of what makes playing bards worthwhile in NWN. And on the higher levels they can buff themselves up so good that they're pretty hard to hit. They're not the best fighters, but they can defend themselves very well, at least until all the buffs wear off.
Nothing beats Shadow Dancer , or how it was called?

My thief could go invisible any time he wanted , he got HUGE critical hit every time.

All enemies die by single hit.

Except for a freaking Mephistopheles who was totally unbeatable for my character class... (immune to surprise attack? and my daggers without it gave to little damage to beat his damage resistance)

Yes, it is gamebreaking, but I have friends and totally casual gamers who really have trouble trying to figure stuff out with NWN and needed that boost.

It is gamebreaking as the Original Campaign is designed or level 1 characters. Yep. I know that much. :)
