F4LL0UT: I'm pretty sure that Momo's a girl.
Oh...... well, thanks for the heads up!

And... excusez-moi mademoiselle momo1991! I should have taken notice of that avatar of yours... :-)
With GOG you're supporting DRM Free gaming which means that everything you buy is yours without any restrictions or having to go through security measures (such as logging on Steam every time you want to play a game).

With GOG you download the game's installer once and you can play the game as long as you want without needing an internet connection EVER. Apart from this GOG also make sure that each game works, installs and plays right out of the box, the hard work is already done for you.

Lastly, GOG isn't an all about the money company, in fact they try hard every day to get fair pricing for all customers worldwide, 1 Dollar isn't 1 Euro and they believe strongly in this. They are also very active on the forums and always communicate.

Enjoy your stay here, it's been 3 years since I joined GOG and it has been the best community I've had the pleasure to be part of.
Well obviously your supporting the devs/rights holders, helping GOG stay in business and help make this place grow into a viable alternative Digital Store(what I mean by that is one that just doesn't sell steam keys or sells mainly Steam keys and a few non-steam or <other client name here> reliant games)

But your also helping JudasIscariot get one step closer of living his dream of being the next great song and dance man(just don't tell him that the age of Song and Dance men is long gone)
The thing about Momo is that she's just a girl and don't let her drive late at night.

Okay that was stupid. And can you believe she is still married to that guy? Bush had some great records but that dude is one bad break from becoming a regular on Hollywood Squares.

Oh and one more...
Who are we supporting?

Momo1991: LOL! Are you signing up to be one of my "white knights"?
Nope, I just don't like misinformation.
GOG is the closest thing to an alternative to Steam without going to one of those publisher's heavily restricted clients. I support GOG due to being DRM-Free, the great customer support, and of course this great forum with helpful people from all walks of life. If a game is available here, I buy it here. If it's not available here, I'll wait until it's shows up here or is almost free on Steam.

Phew! I'm almost out of swords, lances and miscellaneous Knight gear...

thimbleberry? really?!? What have you come to tinyE? Run out of snarky taglines and are now reduced to quoting obscure fruit from the Great Lakes region?

~wanders off to see if there might be a thimbleberry bush in the backyard of this rental~

Artoemius: Since no one answered anything about microtransactions yet, I'll add my 2 cents.

They are total crap.
Depends on the system. Dota 2 nailed it pretty well with discounts, fun stuff, and because you can resell it or trade it later so you're not just losing money to something that will become irrelevant. With trading cards and the item market you don't even have to use your own money either, so it just becomes recycling existing currency around.

This supports the game and the content creators/community, so it's pretty darned good indeed.
By purchasing GOG games & movies we are supporting the idea that the "end user" shouldn't be punished for doing the "right" thing
Wait? I'm running for president?

FoxForPresident: I have been a steam fan boy for many many years. Who can blame me, with games like Half Life and Portal, Valve have owned the PC game market for many people over many years.

The latest releases of games such as Dota 2, where the game is free but the developers make money via micro transactions within the game to customise aesthetics has made the whole thing insane!

Steam also has new set of deals upon deals every 'SINGLE' day, horrific customer support and are becoming more and more about £ rather than the LOVE of games.

So I have drifted away and want to find a company with good morals, love of games and won't be trying to grab a quick buck at every turn.

I just wanted to ask, if I buy from GoG, who am I supporting?

The game makers?

The people?

GoG?

Who?

Love to hear all you thoughts about the difference between Steam and GoG as well as micro transactions.

Also, where are GoG based?

I am SURE this has ALL been asked before, so I can only say sorry if it has, I had a quick look and couldn't see a recent post with it in.

*Disclaimer* I am very dyslexic. So I am sorry if the spelling or grammar is poor in this post.
I was wondering the same, particularly regarding to their business processes.

I feel your pain my friend. I would have given up on Steam a while ago if it weren't for the fact that every game released is on Steam. I'd agree with you on their customer support if they actually had any.

I'm not sure exactly the ratio of money from games on GOG between GOG and the developers. I think (THINK being the keyword) that most of the money goes to the developers and a very small portion goes to GOG. GOG seems to be all about the customer.
